Downloading is now part of the finishing decision, not a button you need to press on every candidate. Lock the winner, preserve its source history, choose the file that matches the next job, then confirm that you can actually use that file the way you intend.

Suno now limits off-platform downloads by plan. Pro currently receives 20 download credits per month and Premier 60; Premier Studio workflows are excluded from those download limits. Monthly plan downloads do not roll over. Free accounts use trial or purchased downloads, and trial downloads are not eligible for commercial use.
First decision: do you need to download at all?
Stay in Suno
If you only need to listen, compare, or share a Suno link, keep the song in the platform. Streaming and link sharing remain available without using an off-platform download.
Export the winner
Download when you need a file for archiving, production, mastering, distribution, video, delivery to a collaborator, or another off-platform workflow.
Training rule
Do not spend downloads on undecided candidates.
Use the selection, editing and Song Details steps first. Then download the winner and any deliverables you actually need. Under Suno’s current policy, one song counts as one download regardless of format, and downloading that same song again does not use another download; stems from that song are part of the same song download rather than separate downloads.
Choose the export by what happens next.
Archive / mastering / DAW
When your plan and workflow allow it, prefer the highest-quality lossless source available. Suno documents WAV downloads for Pro and Premier on the web; mobile downloads default to MP3.
Studio production
Suno Studio can export a full song, selected time range or multitrack project as high-quality WAV, and can also extract MIDI from stems. Use this lane when the next job is real production work rather than simple delivery.
Batch organization
For several already-selected songs, Suno supports multi-song downloads as a ZIP. Batch export is an organizational convenience, not a substitute for naming the actual master and keeping a version record.
The pre-export learning gate
- Confirm the winner. Use the exact version selected after prompting, structure work and editing—not simply the newest generation.
- Confirm the model lane. Record v6, v6-wild, v6-mini or the older model that actually produced the winner.
- Clean Song Details. Finalize title, displayed lyrics, visibility and version notes in the Song Details guide.
- Save provenance. Record uploads, Covers, Extends, Remixes, Samples, Mashups, collaborators and external source material that contributed to the final track.
- Choose the file for the next job. Sharing, mastering, DAW work and distribution are different jobs.
- Preserve the untouched export. Keep one original file before downstream processing.
- Check commercial-use status before release. Suno says songs downloaded while subscribed to a paid plan receive commercial-use rights. That is separate from copyright eligibility or protection.
Important free-plan distinction. A trial download can be useful for personal evaluation, but Suno states that trial downloads are not eligible for commercial use. Do not build a release workflow around a trial download and assume the file is cleared simply because you possess it.
Create an Export Record
A finished file should be traceable back to the project that created it. Keep this compact record with the release folder:
- Exact Suno song/version link or identifier
- Model/version lane used for the winner
- Parent generation or uploaded source
- Transformation history: Cover, Extend, Remix, Sample, Mashup or local edit
- Download date and file format
- Plan/subscription status relevant to commercial-use rights
- Lyrics, samples, uploads and collaborator permissions
- Invoice, subscription proof or other account record when useful
STOP / GO before distribution
STOP
Stop before distribution if the wrong version was exported, the song still needs structural repair, provenance is unclear, uploaded/sample/collaborator rights are unresolved, or the file relies on a trial download for a commercial release.
GO
Continue when the winner is locked, the correct file is preserved, provenance is recorded, commercial-use status is confirmed for the intended use, and Module 4’s remaining finishing checks are complete.
Commercial use is not the same as copyright protection. Suno’s current paid-plan guidance grants commercial-use rights to songs downloaded while subscribed, but Suno also explicitly says that this does not guarantee copyright protection. Keep those as two separate decisions.
