Fix the Right Problem
Finishing does not mean changing everything until the track feels new. It means finding the most important remaining blocker, protecting what already works and making the smallest useful correction.
Prerequisite
Complete Level 2 and your Song Build Map. Bring one version you currently consider your keeper.
Start with the symptom—not the tool
Structure
A section arrives at the wrong time, repeats without purpose or does not create the intended journey.
Performance / generation
The idea is right, but pronunciation, phrasing, vocal character, timing or another generated performance misses the direction.
Production / technical
A useful song is being hurt by masking, unwanted noise, a bad transition, weak foreground or another audible technical issue.
Permission / safety
The track may sound finished but contains a voice, source, collaborator contribution or other material whose permission is unclear.
A finished-sounding track can still have an unfinished decision.
Do not use polish to hide a writing problem, and do not rewrite the song to solve one small technical defect.

Run one repair test
- Save the keeper before changing anything.
- Predict what the repair should improve.
- Change only the layer connected to the diagnosed blocker when practical.
- Compare the repaired version against the keeper from beginning to end.
- Keep, revise or restore. Newer does not automatically mean better.
Success criteria
- You can name one observable problem instead of saying “it needs to be better.”
- You identify the layer that owns the problem.
- You protect at least three useful traits.
- You make one targeted repair or clearly decide that the track should be held instead.
- You can explain whether the repair helped and what it changed unexpectedly.
Common failure
Regenerating the entire song because one thing is wrong. That can destroy the strongest parts while giving you a different set of problems. Preserve the keeper first.
