Creative Control Sliders in Suno v5 — A Practical Manual
Weirdness, Style Influence, Audio Influence. What they do, when to move them, and how to lock sections.

Why these sliders matter
In v5, Suno added a new editing interface, bigger uploads, 12-stem export, and creative sliders so you can shape results without rewriting prompts. Lock your chorus, explore your bridge, and finish in your DAW. See Suno’s v5 control update and Song Editor announcement.
The three creative sliders (v5)
Weirdness (Safe → Chaos)
- ~50% ≈ “normal” baseline.
- Higher: more exploration and risk.
- Lower: safer, more expected takes.
Style Influence (Loose → Strong)
- How tightly output follows your style input.
- Higher: stricter adherence to genre/description.
- Lower: looser, more open interpretation.
Audio Influence (shows with uploads)
- How strongly your uploaded audio (vocal, riff, stem) guides generation.
- Raise for “featured” parts; lower for background texture.
These controls appear in Custom mode; Audio Influence appears when you upload audio.
When to adjust what
- Chorus: lower Weirdness, raise Style Influence for a consistent hook.
- Bridge: raise Weirdness one step for novelty.
- With uploads: set Audio Influence high if the vocal/riff should lead; keep moderate/low for ambience.
Safe starting points (ranges)
- Radio Pop: Weirdness 35–50, Style Influence 65–80.
- Hip-hop / Trap bed: Weirdness 40–55, Style Influence 55–70.
- Worship / Gospel: Weirdness 25–40, Style Influence 70–85.
- Orchestral cue: Weirdness 55–70, Style Influence 45–60.
- Ambient / Experimental: Weirdness 70–85, Style Influence 35–55.
- With lead-vocal upload: Audio Influence 60–75 (lead) or 20–40 (texture).
Move one slider at a time and compare short (20–30s) sections.
Section workflow that holds up
- Draft at Weirdness ~50 / Style Influence ~60.
- Chorus: lower Weirdness; raise Style Influence until the hook lands.
- Verse: keep conservative; focus lyric clarity.
- Bridge: raise Weirdness one notch only.
- Use the Song Editor to remake/rewrite sections instead of re-rolling the whole song.
- Export stems and finish balance/EQ in your DAW.
Troubleshooting (quick fixes)
Symptom | Likely cause | Slider fix | Prompt/editor fix |
---|---|---|---|
Style drift / chaos | Weirdness too high | Lower Weirdness | Add genre + instrument tags; lock sections |
Too “on rails” / bland | Style Influence too high | Lower Style Influence | Add one novel element in Bridge |
Upload ignored | Audio Influence too low | Raise Audio Influence | Trim/clean upload; specify “featured vocal/riff” |
Upload overwhelms mix | Audio Influence too high | Lower Audio Influence | Describe it as “ambient texture” |
Chorus inconsistent | Weirdness too high in Chorus | Lower Weirdness (Chorus only) | Lock Chorus in editor; iterate Verse |
