Do not reduce the groups to caricatures
Pharisees were not simply “legalistic hypocrites.” Sadducees were not merely rich villains. Essenes were not necessarily identical with every text found at Qumran. These labels represent real but internally complex Jewish movements.
Act III depends on getting this right
Jesus’ arguments with Pharisees are intra-Jewish debates. The high-priestly establishment operates within Roman and Temple politics. Resurrection, purity, Sabbath and law disputes make sense only inside this diverse Jewish world. The Jesus authority program should link back here whenever sectarian context matters.
