Best AI Video Generation Tools for Creators: Choose the Workflow First
There is no single “best AI video generator” for every creator. In 2026, the better question is: what are you trying to make, how much control do you need, and where in the workflow should AI help?
Start With the AI Video Generation HubMaking a Music Video?
My two primary supported platform paths
Leonardo AI · Frame-first / shot-first
Best fit when you want to establish or curate the starting image, control individual shots and choose different video-model capabilities as needed.
Start here if: character appearance, cover art, product shape, visual identity or exact framing is already important before motion begins.
Atlabs AI · Story-first / multi-scene
Best fit when you begin from a song, script, character, idea or campaign and need help moving from concept into storyboard, scenes, performance, motion and repeatable output.
Start here if: the challenge is organizing multiple scenes into a coherent video rather than generating one isolated shot.

Other tools and models still matter
Runway, Google’s Veo family, Kling and other current video systems can be excellent choices depending on access, model capabilities, editing needs and the specific shot. I do not treat them as secondary because they are “worse.” They are secondary in this site structure because Leonardo and Atlabs have dedicated JR learning paths, while the broader hub stays platform-independent.
That distinction keeps this guide useful as model rankings change. A new model can become excellent without forcing the entire learning system to be rewritten.
Choose by production job
| Production job | Start with | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Animate a strong existing image | Leonardo path | The anchor image and shot-level motion are already the center of the problem. |
| Build a multi-scene music video | Atlabs path | The challenge is story, cast, scene order and campaign continuity. |
| Create a cinematic sequence | Storyboard first | Plan shot purpose and continuity before expensive generation. |
| Test one difficult hero shot | Compare current models | The best engine can vary by motion, realism, reference control, audio and availability. |
| Create social derivatives from a finished video | Editor + platform workflow | Generation is only one part of cropping, timing, captions and packaging. |
The criteria I use instead of a generic ranking
1. Control
Can you specify what moves, what stays stable, and where the camera goes?
2. Continuity
Can recurring characters, wardrobe, products and visual language survive multiple scenes?
3. Workflow
Does the system help with the job before and after generation, or only produce isolated clips?
4. Cost of iteration
Can you test cheaply enough to learn before spending on final-quality generations?
5. Export / finishing
Can the output enter your real editing, captioning, music and platform workflow cleanly?
6. Rights / privacy
Do the current plan and terms fit your intended commercial use, source material and client/privacy requirements?
Do not hardwire your process to one model
Current model availability moves quickly. Leonardo’s own 2026 model guidance illustrates this: provider-side changes can remove a model while alternative models remain available inside the platform. Build your production brief around capabilities—image-to-video, reference consistency, start/end frames, audio, motion style, speed—not around a permanent assumption that one model will always be available.
A portable workflow that survives tool changes
- Define the output. Music video, promo, story scene, visualizer, ad, character clip or animated artwork.
- Define the anchor. Song, script, storyboard, still image, character reference or product.
- Choose the platform workflow. Frame-first, story-first or modular.
- Choose the current model. Match model capabilities to the specific shot.
- Test one short section. Learn where identity, motion or camera breaks.
- Finish selectively. Regenerate only what matters and edit the final sequence outside the generator when needed.
