AI Video Generation: Start With the Shot, Not the Tool
AI video in 2026 is no longer one tool doing one job. Platforms can give you access to multiple models, while other systems can help turn a song, story, character or campaign idea into a sequence of scenes. This guide is the starting point for choosing the right workflow before you spend credits.
What AI video generation means now
You may be creating from text, animating a still image, keeping a character consistent across scenes, building a storyboard, generating performance footage, or turning a finished song into a visual campaign. Those are different production problems. The best tool depends on the problem.
Build a shot directly from a written scene description.
Start from a designed frame or character image and add motion.
Preserve identity, wardrobe and visual language across clips.
Plan multiple scenes, performance moments and campaign assets as one system.
Platform vs. model: know the difference
A platform is the environment where you build, edit, organize and generate. A model is the generation engine producing a particular image or video result. That distinction matters because one platform may offer several models. Leonardo AI, for example, currently provides access to multiple video-model families, so the right question is often not “Which platform wins?” but “Which model and workflow fit this shot?”
Choose your primary path
PATH 1 · LEONARDO AI
Frame-first, shot-by-shot control
Use this path when you want to design or curate the starting visual, choose the video model for the shot, test motion and keep tight control over what each clip is supposed to do.

Story-first, multi-scene production
Use this path when you are starting from a song, story, character, script or campaign and want help moving from concept to storyboard, scenes, casting, motion and repeatable content.

The repeatable AI video workflow
- Define the job. Music video, promo clip, cinematic scene, animated artwork, character performance or product/story video?
- Write the shot brief. Subject, action, setting, framing, camera behavior, mood and duration.
- Create the anchor. Establish the character, key frame, visual direction or storyboard before generating dozens of clips.
- Run a short test. Spend enough credits to learn whether motion, identity and framing are working.
- Judge continuity. Ask whether the clip belongs beside the clips before and after it—not only whether it looks impressive alone.
- Finish selectively. Regenerate or upscale only the scenes worth keeping.
- Edit outside the generator when needed. Timing, music, sound design, captions, transitions and final export remain part of video production.
Start from the use case
Turn a finished song into scenes, performance and campaign assets.Cinematic Storyboards
Plan scenes before spending heavily on generation.Visual Identity
Build the still-image system that gives motion somewhere to start.Animated Artwork
Create motion assets from existing cover art and song visuals.
SOUNDTRACK BRIDGE · LEONARDO MUSIC V1
Leonardo now crosses music and video
Leonardo now includes music generation as well as its image and video workflows. I am testing Music v1 as the soundtrack side of WAR COMES, then carrying approved creative direction into the visual workflow. This is a live workflow test—not a claim that one platform should do everything.

WAR COMES: building the Act IV teaser trailer
I am applying this system to the JR Universe in public. The current challenge is to turn WAR COMES from a song teaser into a cinematic trailer-quality visual that introduces the threat, the world and the coming conflict of Act IV · The Righteous without trying to explain the entire story.
The production target: short, tense and cinematic; one memorable visual idea per shot; enough story to create anticipation; no need to reveal every character or answer every question.
Enter the JR Universe →Do not buy a tool before you know what needs to move
If your character is inconsistent, your visual identity is unclear, your storyboard has no purpose, or the still image is weak, video generation usually makes the problem more expensive. Fix the anchor first. Then animate it.
Rights and release check
Use source images, voices, likenesses, music and other inputs you have the right or permission to use. Platform plans, model availability and commercial-use terms can change quickly, so verify the current terms that apply to your account before a commercial release.
