Linktree in 2026: Free vs Pro, Shop, Bookings & Affiliate Limits

Gary Whittaker

FIELD TEST · UPDATED AUGUST 31, 2026

I Built a Linktree in 2026. Here’s What Actually Matters.

I did not set this up because I suddenly believe every creator needs Linktree. I set one up to see what the platform can actually do now: stable bio links, a Shop, Spotify routing, bookings, a member-priority booking option, and the monetization tools Linktree promotes. The useful answer is more nuanced than “Linktree good” or “Linktree bad.”

My working rule remains simple: your domain is the owned home; Linktree is rented routing infrastructure. That makes Linktree useful when it reduces friction without replacing the thing you ultimately control.

FREE CAN BE ENOUGH

If you need a stable link-in-bio router with a few evergreen destinations, you can get meaningful use before paying.

PRO IS A TEST, NOT A REQUIREMENT

Linktree currently advertises a 7-day Pro trial. The useful question is whether the paid customization, branding removal, analytics and integrations actually matter to your workflow after the trial ends.

SHOP ≠ AUTOMATIC AFFILIATE INCOME

You can organize products and affiliate recommendations in the Shop tab, but Linktree’s own partner-commission features have country restrictions.

BOOKINGS ARE MORE SERIOUS THAN I EXPECTED

Linktree now supports free or paid booking types, different durations/prices, availability and other scheduling controls.

What I actually built

This is where the platform became more useful to me than the old “pile of links” version of Linktree.

1. Stable main links

I am not planning to rebuild the page every week. The main links should survive a month or longer: a Start Here path, JR Universe, Spotify, the AI Music VS/comparison lane, free creator resources, community and About.

The principle matters more than my exact list: make the permanent links represent jobs people need to do, not whatever happened to be posted yesterday.

2. A separate Shop layer

I separated offers from navigation. The Shop can hold the Starter Kit, free help, Creator Library and deeper access options without turning the main link list into a storefront.

That separation gives the page a clearer hierarchy: Links help people navigate; Shop helps people evaluate offers.

3. Music routing

A direct Spotify artist link belongs in the main experience because it proves the music side of the brand immediately. For a music creator, routing to listening platforms is a natural use of a link-in-bio page.

4. Booking types

I tested Linktree Bookings with a public consultation option and a separate member-priority type. That is more useful than one generic “book me” button because the booking menu itself can communicate who receives what level of access.

THE MONTHLY MODEL

Do not turn Linktree into another feed you have to babysit.

If you only intend to review your Linktree monthly, build for that reality. Keep the core destinations evergreen. Use titles that still make sense several weeks later. Only replace a link when a campaign is important enough to justify the change.

A simple monthly review can ask: Is every destination still live? Is the order still right? Is there one current priority worth surfacing? Is anything duplicated between Links and Shop? Did a paid feature actually earn its place?

Free vs Pro in 2026

Linktree’s public pricing page currently lists Free at $0, Starter at $6/month billed annually or $8 monthly, Pro at $12/month billed annually or $15 monthly, and Premium at $30/month billed annually or $35 monthly. Linktree currently advertises a 7-day free trial for Pro.

What Free is for

Free is the proof-of-concept plan. Linktree lists unlimited basic links and monetization features such as products, courses and brand offers, although eligibility and fees vary by feature and country.

What Pro adds

Linktree lists removal of Linktree branding, custom themes/fonts/layouts, advanced analytics and mailing-list integrations among Pro features. Its paid-feature documentation also lists the larger Hero profile image for Pro and Premium.

Pricing and plan features can change. Treat the numbers above as a dated August 31, 2026 snapshot, not a permanent promise.

Can you make affiliate money from Linktree?

Yes, but there are two different ideas that are easy to confuse.

Your own affiliate links: Linktree says the Shop tab can be used to display affiliate products and that creators can connect with affiliate programs outside Linktree. In that case, the outside affiliate program pays you under its own rules.

Linktree’s native partner earnings: Linktree’s current eligibility documentation says Linktree Shops commissions, Sponsored Links and other partner-earning opportunities are limited to eligible US-based Linkers. That matters if you are in Canada: do not assume the commission catalog shown in Linktree marketing is available to you.

Direct earnings are different: Linktree’s eligibility documentation lists Canada among supported countries for direct earnings such as eligible digital products, courses and bookings.

The fee math matters if you sell directly

For digital products and courses, Linktree’s current fee documentation lists a Linktree fee of 12% on Free, 9% on Starter, 9% on Pro and 0% on Premium, before applicable payment-processing fees. That means upgrading only to Pro does not eliminate the platform’s digital-product seller fee.

If you already have a Shopify store or another checkout system, this is one reason not to duplicate commerce simply because Linktree offers it. Linktree can route people to the checkout you already operate.

Bookings may be one of the more useful additions

Linktree’s Bookings feature can support free or paid sessions, multiple booking types with different durations or prices, availability rules and buffers. That makes it practical for consultants, coaches and creators who want a lightweight scheduling layer without making every visitor navigate a full services site first.

A useful structure

Public visitors can receive a shorter intro or general consultation option, while members can receive a clearly named priority consultation. The important part is not making everything free; it is making the access hierarchy understandable.

Where Linktree fits in Find Your Brand

A link-in-bio page is not the brand and it is not the home. It is a routing surface. That distinction becomes important once you have a domain, searchable content, products, customer relationships and an archive you want to keep building.

Use Linktree when it makes discovery simpler. Use your owned site when the visitor needs context, trust, deeper content, a durable campaign page or a relationship you want to keep.

Do you actually need Pro?

Stay Free if your main job is stable routing, you are comfortable with the basic presentation, and you do not yet have evidence that advanced analytics or customization will change an outcome.

Consider Pro if the branding removal, visual control, analytics or integrations materially improve a page you are already using. The 7-day trial is useful precisely because you can build the version you think you want, then decide whether you miss those features when the trial ends.

I would not upgrade simply because the editor keeps showing paid options. Make the feature prove its value first.

Bottom line

Linktree is better than a dead bio, better than forcing every audience into the same homepage, and weaker than a home you own. In 2026 it is also more than a list of links: Shop, bookings, music routing and monetization tools make it a capable lightweight creator layer.

The useful strategy is not to cram every feature into it. Build a small stable router, keep commerce organized separately, review it on a realistic schedule, and let your owned site carry the depth.
