Sometimes yes—but not through one universal fingerprint. A file may carry signed provenance, a vendor may offer a model-specific classifier, ordinary metadata may provide clues, a platform may retain account or generation records, and a distributor may use its own detection systems. Those are different kinds of evidence.
The useful question is not simply “Can they tell?” It is: what signal exists, what does it support, and what does it fail to prove?
“Traceable” can mean five different things
1. Embedded provenance
A signed credential travels with a file and can identify its source or history. Suno publicly documents C2PA Content Credentials for this purpose.
2. Model-specific classification
A classifier analyzes audio and estimates whether it resembles output from a particular generator. Treblo publicly released this kind of detector for its own models.
3. File metadata
Ordinary metadata may contain software, creation or export information. It can be useful evidence, but it is not the same as cryptographically signed provenance.
4. Platform-side records
A service may retain account, generation, upload or job records independently of what survives inside a downloaded file.
5. Distributor or service detection
A distributor can apply its own classifiers, business rules, declarations or review process. A detection decision is not automatically a legal ruling.
What Suno can document directly
Suno publicly says it attaches Content Credentials using the C2PA standard to generated songs. Where those credentials are present and validate, they provide a strong direct provenance signal connecting the file to Suno’s generation system.
Important: a valid Suno Content Credential supports provenance. It does not, by itself, prove copyright ownership, commercial rights, exclusivity, authorship percentage or distributor eligibility.

The reverse conclusion is weaker: if a credential is absent from a particular processed file, that does not prove the music was not made with Suno. Files can pass through editing, mastering, transcoding and platform workflows that affect what information remains attached to the copy being examined.
What Treblo’s classifier can support
Treblo—formerly Sonauto—released an open-source AI music classifier in August 2026 designed to detect whether a song was generated by Treblo. Treblo says its evaluation produced a false-positive rate below 1 in 10,000 and that the initial classifier covers Treblo’s own models.
That is meaningful evidence, but it is a different type of evidence from C2PA. A classifier produces an analytical result based on the audio it is given; it is not the same as a signed provenance manifest attached when the file was created.
Do not generalize the Treblo result. A detector trained for Treblo does not automatically prove whether a song came from Suno, Udio or another generator.
What is publicly documented for Udio
Udio’s current official material documents its transition to a licensed music platform through agreements with major music companies. It also states that audio, video and stem downloads were disabled as part of the transition.
In the official Udio materials reviewed for this update, I did not find a public provenance verifier equivalent to Suno’s documented C2PA system. That should not be turned into the opposite claim that “Udio is untraceable.” A service can retain internal records or use technology that is not presented as a public verifier, and other services can apply their own detection tools.

Can editing, trimming or re-exporting change the evidence?
Yes, different processing steps can affect different signals. Ordinary metadata can change. Embedded credentials may not survive every workflow or every derivative copy. Classifier confidence can also vary when audio is transformed. Meanwhile, platform-side records can exist separately from the downloaded file.
That is why “I exported it again” is not a reliable conclusion about detectability. The correct creator strategy is not to try to defeat provenance or detection. It is to maintain an accurate record of what you made, what tools were used and what changed.
What an Adobe Content Credentials checker can—and cannot—tell you
Adobe and other C2PA-compatible tools can inspect files for compatible Content Credentials. A positive result can be useful. An empty result is not a universal AI detector and should not be treated as proof that an audio file is human-made or came from a different generator.
Use a generic C2PA viewer as one evidence check, not as a final verdict on the entire production history.
What distributors may use
Provenance
Embedded credentials or authenticated origin information where available.
Metadata
File and delivery metadata associated with the submitted asset.
Classifiers
Proprietary or third-party systems that estimate AI involvement or source.
Your declaration
Information you provide about generation, assistance, rights, samples, vocals and ownership.
A detection signal and a distribution policy are still separate. A platform can identify AI involvement and permit the release, identify it and apply a label, or identify it and restrict a particular use. Detection is not a copyright decision
A file being identifiable as AI-generated does not answer whether the finished project includes protectable human-authored material. Likewise, removing or changing metadata would not create human authorship that was not there before.

Make the project explainable
- Save the original generator URL or project reference when available.
- Record the creation date, model/version and plan context that mattered.
- Keep your human source material: lyrics, melody, performance, spoken direction, recordings and drafts.
- Keep the downloaded master, stems and versions that actually entered the production.
- Document DAW edits, replacement performances, rewrites and collaborator contributions.
- Keep relevant licences and permissions for uploads, samples and voices.
- Record what you disclosed to the distributor and which release policy applied.
- Preserve provenance signals instead of treating them as something to hide.

Claims to avoid
- “I removed the metadata, so nobody can know.” Metadata is only one possible signal.
- “A detector flagged it, so the generator is legally proven.” A classifier result and signed provenance are not the same.
- “C2PA says Suno, so I own the copyright.” Provenance is not copyright.
- “Udio does not publish a Suno-style verifier, so Udio is untraceable.” That conclusion is not supported.
- “If a distributor detects AI, the song will automatically be rejected.” Detection and policy outcome are separate.
FAQ
Can someone prove my song was made with Suno?
If a valid Suno Content Credential is present, that can provide direct provenance. Without it, other evidence may still exist, but the strength of the conclusion depends on the evidence.
Can Treblo detect Suno or Udio?
Treblo’s current public classifier is documented for Treblo’s own models. Do not treat it as a universal detector.
Does Udio have the same public C2PA system as Suno?
I did not find an equivalent public Udio verifier in the official materials reviewed for this September 12 update. That is not proof that Udio music is untraceable.
Does re-exporting a file guarantee that AI origin is gone?
No. Different signals behave differently, and platform-side records are separate from the file itself.
Does AI detection settle copyright?
No. Detection, provenance, platform permission and copyright are different questions.
What should I do before distribution?
Keep a creator record, review the distributor’s current policy, be accurate about the role of AI, and avoid exclusivity claims you cannot support.
