Build Your AI Writing Voice Profile From Writing You Already Have

AI Writing Assistance · Find Your Voice · Public Lesson 11

This lesson is part of the public AI Writing Assistance series: practical training you can use now, with a deeper Find Your Voice practice available where your access includes it.

You do not need to invent a writing persona for AI. Your existing emails, articles, captions, scripts and notes already contain evidence of how you naturally communicate.

The Jack Righteous approach

Build your voice profile from real samples, then decide which patterns are worth preserving and which are simply habits you have outgrown.

Use this workflow

  1. Collect three to five pieces that genuinely sound like you.
  2. Include more than one format so the AI does not mistake format for personality.
  3. Ask AI to identify recurring patterns in directness, sentence length, explanation style, humour, vocabulary and structure.
  4. Separate patterns you like from habits you want to improve.
  5. Turn only the approved patterns into reusable guidance.

Why this matters

AI can move quickly enough that a weak assumption becomes polished before you notice it. A stronger workflow makes the important choices visible earlier: what the source material actually says, what belongs to your voice, what the reader needs, and what still requires human judgment.

A prompt you can actually use

Copy and adapt:

Analyze these writing samples for recurring voice patterns. Do not imitate them yet. Identify what is consistent across samples, what changes by format, and what may simply be a weak habit. Separate strong evidence from tentative observations so I can approve the profile.

What a useful AI response should do

A useful response should help you inspect the material, not hide the reasoning under better prose. You should be able to see which patterns came from your source material, which conclusions are tentative, and which choices still belong to you.

Your five-minute exercise

The sample that sounds most like me is: ______________________________

One pattern I want to preserve is: ______________________________

One habit I do not want AI to copy is: ______________________________

One trait I need more evidence for is: ______________________________

What the human still decides

AI can help with pattern recognition, organization, questions, alternatives and editing. You still decide what is true, what sounds like you, what belongs in the project, what is safe to publish and what deserves to become a reusable rule.
