What Comes After Your First Voice Draft? Choose the Next Voice Step

AI Writing Assistance · Find Your Voice · Public Lesson 10
This public lesson gives you something useful to do now, then points you to the deeper Find Your Voice practice if it is included in your access.
Finishing one draft is not the end of Find Your Voice. It gives you evidence about what needs to become repeatable.
The Jack Righteous approach
Use the finished piece to decide whether your next need is stronger voice control, better editing, more project knowledge or a new format.
Use this workflow
- Review what required the most correction.
- Notice which instructions you repeated more than once.
- Save any decision that should become reusable context.
- Identify where AI helped most and where it created extra work.
- Choose one weakness to improve in the next project.
Why this matters
AI is very good at producing language that looks finished. That makes it easy to skip the human decision that should have happened first. This step slows the process down just enough to keep the meaning, reader and purpose visible before the writing gets more polished.
A prompt you can actually use
Copy and adapt:
Review this finished piece and our revision process. Identify recurring decisions, repeated corrections and useful instructions that should be saved for future work. Do not create a new workflow until I confirm which patterns matter.
What a useful AI response should do
A useful response should make the decision easier to inspect. It should surface options, gaps, contradictions or patterns without quietly converting them into a final answer. You should still be able to see where your judgment enters the process.
Your five-minute exercise
The correction I repeated most was: ______________________________
The instruction worth saving is: ______________________________
AI helped most with: ______________________________
My next voice skill should be: ______________________________
What the human still decides
AI can help you organize, compare, question and revise. It cannot decide what you truly mean, what deserves emphasis, what is accurate enough to publish, or which version you are willing to stand behind. Keep those decisions with you.
