Hogwarts Historical Research Program – Welcome Packet & Arrival Brief

Welcome to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. As respected historians from the Department of Magical History at the Ministry of Magic and distinguished alumni of Hogwarts, your expertise in magical history will provide invaluable insight into events surrounding the turbulent years of the First Wizarding War, particularly the pivotal 1977–78 academic year.

Program Supervisor:

• Professor Septima Vector, Arithmancy Department

Research Objectives: Participants will examine existing documented archives, historical artifacts, and verified Pensieve memories preserved within Hogwarts to enhance our understanding of key historical events. Particular focus will be placed on verifying timelines and clarifying documented narratives involving former Hogwarts students and staff, including known figures such as Albus Dumbledore, Severus Snape, and the Marauders.

Suggested Research Topics:

• Documented uses and secrets of the Room of Requirement

• Historical magical protections and defensive measures during wartime

• Insights into the roles and contributions of notable Hogwarts Headmasters

Program Duration:

• July 15th to August 15th (Summer recess)

General Rules and Guidelines:

1. Participants must always carry their provided identification while within Hogwarts grounds.

2. Access to certain areas (Restricted Section of the Library, Staff Lounge, Headmaster’s Tower) requires explicit permission from Professor Vector or Headmistress McGonagall.

3. All archival documents, Pensieve memories, and magical artifacts provided for research must remain within designated research rooms.

4. Wand use is permitted for research purposes only. Non-academic spellcasting is strictly prohibited.

5. Participants must adhere strictly to the Statute of Secrecy at all times. Discussions of research findings outside designated program areas or with non-participants are strictly prohibited.

Accessible Facilities and Resources:

• Hogwarts Library: Supervised access to historical archives, including back issues of The Daily Prophet, school records, and documented wartime correspondence.

• Room of Requirement: Arrangements for accessing specific historical artifacts and documented Pensieve memories will be coordinated through Professor Vector. Particular interest may be placed upon artifacts like the Marauder’s Map.

• Great Hall: Meals provided in the Great Hall. Researchers are encouraged to engage with Hogwarts faculty members present during the summer.

Prohibited Areas:

• Forbidden Forest: Completely off-limits due to safety concerns.

• Chamber of Secrets: Permanently sealed and inaccessible.

• Private faculty quarters: Access restricted at all times.

Daily Schedule Overview:

• Breakfast (Great Hall): 8:00 AM – 9:00 AM

• Morning Research Session: 9:30 AM – 12:30 PM

• Lunch (Great Hall): 12:30 PM – 1:30 PM

• Afternoon Research Session: 2:00 PM – 5:30 PM

• Dinner (Great Hall): 6:00 PM – 7:00 PM

• Evening Review & Documentation: 7:30 PM – 9:00 PM
