How Visual Development Can Expose Weaknesses in Your Story

AI Writing Assistance · Applied Publishing · Public Lesson 43

This block applies the system to manuscripts, client work, repurposing and content-library operations.

Trying to visualize a scene forces decisions the prose can sometimes hide: where people are, what the environment says, what changes in the moment and whether the scene has a clear focal point.

The Jack Righteous approach

Use visual development as a diagnostic tool for story clarity, not just as decoration.

Use this workflow

  1. Describe the scene as if a camera had to capture it.
  2. Identify the single visual focus of the moment.
  3. Check whether location, time and character positions are clear.
  4. Notice whether the scene changes visually from beginning to end.
  5. Return to the manuscript when the image reveals missing logic.

Why this matters

Real projects introduce consequences that prompt demos often ignore: other people's identities, source accuracy, client approvals, continuity, public links, repurposing decisions and the cumulative consistency of a whole library. The workflow has to survive those conditions, not just generate attractive prose.

A prompt you can actually use

Copy and adapt:

Translate this scene into a visual breakdown without changing the story. Identify setting, character positions, focal action, visual transition and any information the prose leaves too vague to visualize. Do not invent missing details; flag them.

What a useful AI response should do

A useful response should make the material easier to inspect and the next human decision easier to see. It should not hide uncertainty, invent missing approval, turn interpretation into fact or substitute clean wording for responsible publication.

Your five-minute exercise

The visual focal point is: ______________________________

The setting detail that is unclear is: ______________________________

The action that needs clearer staging is: ______________________________

The manuscript detail I need to add is: ______________________________

What the human still decides

AI can organize, compare, adapt and flag risk. The writer, creator or client still decides what is true, fair, intentional, approved and ready to publish. That responsibility does not disappear because the workflow got faster.
