Create can give you a song, a stem, a performance or a direction. Studio 2.0 is where you decide what survives, what changes, what gets added, and how the pieces become a finished arrangement.

Suno describes Studio 2.0 as a browser-based generative DAW and full production environment. That distinction matters. Create is primarily about asking for material. Studio gives that material a timeline, tracks, clips, effects, instruments, automation and recording workflows so you can make smaller decisions after the first generation exists.
The mental shift
Create asks: “What should Suno make?” Studio asks: “What does this production still need?”
The Studio production map
You can arrive with a Suno generation, imported audio, stems, MIDI or a fresh project. The important part is that once material is on the timeline, you are no longer limited to asking for another entire song just because one element is weak.
MIDI changes what “prompting” can mean
Studio 2.0 can import, record and edit MIDI directly on the timeline. You can draw and edit notes, use a hardware controller, or play with your computer keyboard through Musical Typing.
The more interesting Suno-specific idea is that a MIDI clip can become a prompt for generated audio. Instead of explaining a melody with words, you can provide the notes and ask the generative system to reinterpret the musical information as another sound or instrument.
Producer use: write or play the musical idea first, then let generation solve the timbre or performance problem.
Recording: your performance can become source material
Studio records both audio and MIDI onto the timeline. Suno’s current workflow includes track arming, input selection, count-in, pre-roll and latency calibration for audio recording.
The generative layer makes recording more useful than simply capturing a final take. A sung melody can become the basis for a different instrument. MIDI chords can be transformed into generated audio. A rough performance can communicate timing, contour and feel that would be awkward to describe in a text prompt.
The Chat Bar is useful when it behaves like a production collaborator
The old context bar became the Studio Chat Bar. Suno says it can generate audio or MIDI clips, create instruments and vocals, help arrange a song, answer project questions and design custom plugins or synth presets.
That is powerful, but the same rule from prompting still applies: vague instructions create vague production decisions. “Make it better” gives the system too much authority. “Add a restrained percussion layer for the second verse and keep the vocal space open” gives it a job.

Describe a custom effect or synth preset and iterate conversationally.
As of Suno’s September 2 Studio update, the Chat Bar is also more aware of BPM and tempo changes, its responses were made more reliable, and prompt edits can be undone.
Effects and custom plugins: shape what already works
Studio 2.0 includes real-time effects for the jobs producers expect to solve during a mix: compressor with sidechain support, EQ, reverb, convolution, delay, distortion and gate.
That gives you a reason not to regenerate a good performance just because it needs more space, tighter dynamics, less mud, a rhythmic pump or a controlled delay.
Studio can also build custom effects from a Chat Bar description. Suno says those custom plugins can be revised conversationally and support features such as presets and automation. Studio does not currently host conventional VST or Audio Units plugins.
The wavetable synth gives MIDI a native instrument
Studio’s built-in wavetable synth can handle basses, leads, pads, chords and other synthesized sounds. You can shape it directly, start from presets, or use the Chat Bar to design a preset.
Musical Typing means you do not need a hardware MIDI controller just to experiment: your computer keyboard can become a playable input, including chord and arpeggiator modes. Suno’s September Studio update also improved wavetable fidelity to reduce high-frequency aliasing.
Automation is where a static mix starts moving
Automation changes a parameter over time rather than leaving it at one fixed value. Studio supports automation for track volume and pan and for nearly every non-static effect or plugin parameter.
Think in moments
Build: raise volume or open a filter into a chorus.
Space: automate delay or reverb on the tail of a phrase instead of washing the whole vocal.
Movement: shift panning or effect intensity where the arrangement needs motion.
Contrast: make sections feel different without replacing the underlying performance.
Stems, clips and imported material become a real arrangement
Studio 2.0 can work with uploaded WAV, MP3 and MIDI files, and includes advanced stem separation. That means the V6 workflow does not have to end at the whole-song generation. You can split roles, keep what works, replace what does not, layer new elements and move clips around the timeline.
This is where the earlier parts of this series connect. A reference can establish direction. A V6 model can generate the source. Stems can isolate useful components. Studio can then treat those components as production material instead of forcing the whole song to remain one inseparable object.
A clean V6 → Studio workflow
- Choose the strongest source. Do not bring five mediocre generations into Studio just because they exist.
- Open or import the material. Start from the song, stems, external audio or MIDI that actually contains something worth preserving.
- Name the problem. Arrangement? performance? missing instrument? mix? transition? timing?
- Use the smallest tool that solves it. Move a clip, record, generate a part, add an effect, automate, or replace only what needs replacement.
- Compare before adding more. Every layer should have a reason to survive.
- Export intentionally. Decide whether you need a finished mix, a selected range, individual stems or multitracks for work elsewhere.
When Studio is the wrong first move

Export is part of the production decision
Suno’s current Studio documentation supports exporting a full song, a selected range or the project multitrack, including 32-bit WAV or MP3 options, plus WAV downloads of individual stems. Suno’s Studio 2.0 launch materials also emphasize high-quality multitrack and stem export for Premier workflows.
If the project is continuing in another DAW, export with that next job in mind. If Studio is the final production environment, listen to the finished mix as a listener — not just as the person who knows how much work went into it.
Access and browser reality
Studio 2.0 is currently a Premier feature.
Suno recommends Google Chrome for the best Studio performance. Web MIDI is currently unavailable in Safari, so a creator planning to use hardware MIDI should not assume every browser will expose the same workflow.
Studio can complement an existing DAW through exported ideas, samples, stems and multitracks, but Suno says it does not currently provide direct DAW sync or conventional plugin-host integration.
Try this: the 15-minute producer drill
Take one generation you already like. Do not start by trying to rebuild it. Find one weakness and make only one class of production change.
Name one specific problem.
Find the track, clip or section responsible.
Record, generate, effect, automate or rearrange.
Listen before and after at matched attention.
If you cannot explain why the change is better, undo it. That is production discipline.
