Save the right songs. Then decide what deserves to move forward.
Suno’s new download limits begin September 3. Your existing library is not disappearing, but the way you download files from it is changing. This is a good reason to back up important work now—and an even better reason to stop treating every generation as equally important.
Do not panic-download your entire history.
If a song matters, preserve it. But the larger opportunity is to use this change as a forced catalogue review.
Most AI music creators do not have a shortage of songs. They have a shortage of decisions. A folder with hundreds of generations can feel valuable while still hiding the few tracks that actually deserve finishing, release planning, audience testing or professional presentation.
The job before September 3 is not “save everything.” It is “protect what matters, then identify what deserves the next stage.”
The JR 6-Step Action Plan
Preserve → Compare → Select → Develop → Package → Test
Download the files you would genuinely regret losing easy access to.
Prioritize released songs, active projects, strong unreleased candidates, important alternate versions, stems or working assets you may need later, and anything tied to a current campaign or collaborator.
Do not confuse “I made it” with “I need a local copy forever.”
Stop judging songs one at a time.
Compare your strongest candidates against each other. Which one has the clearest identity? Which one still holds up after repeated listening? Which one creates a useful next step instead of another unfinished folder?
Name one lead candidate.
You are not declaring it your greatest song forever. You are choosing the track currently worth the next serious block of time, attention and evidence.
If you cannot identify one, return to Find Your Sound and strengthen the creative decision first.
Move the song beyond generation.
Use FIND → BUILD → CONTROL to clarify the sound, strengthen production decisions and reduce version drift. A serious candidate should become easier—not harder—to explain as you work on it.
Make the song understandable outside your own project folder.
Once the creative work is strong enough, the job changes: final assets, rights and provenance, credits, metadata, visuals, artist identity, release copy and the files needed for a clean handoff.
Put one serious candidate into a real process.

If you cannot answer yet, compare. If you can answer, develop. If the song survives development, package it. Then test the work against the audience or opportunity you actually care about.
