Build an Owned Home for Your AI Artist | Academy Milestone 6
Build a controlled artist website or landing page that introduces the project, presents the current release, captures permission and gives every campaign one measurable destination.
AI ARTIST MILESTONE 6 OF 20 · BUILD THE ARTIST HOME
Build an Owned Home for Your AI Artist
Streaming and social platforms help people encounter the music. Your owned home should help them recognize the artist, understand the project, hear the current work, trust the information and choose one useful next step.

What should an AI artist’s first owned website contain?

What transfers from Milestone 5
Bring the approved public material from your rights and proof record:
- artist name and public description;
- authoritative song master and approved artwork;
- approved biography, credits and disclosure;
- public claims that the evidence supports;
- permitted uses and known restrictions;
- release metadata and current status;
- contact route and evidence-folder location;
- private unresolved notes that must not appear publicly.
Entry rule: the website must not invent identity, listener numbers, press, ownership language, credits or release facts. Public content must come from approved records.
What is an artist’s owned home?
It is a website or landing page controlled by the creator that introduces the artist, presents the music, captures permission and routes visitors to the next useful action.
The first approved version can be one strong page. A large site is unnecessary until the audience, catalogue and business require it.
Owned home
You control the message, structure, email capture, archive, product routes, contact paths, analytics and campaign destination.
Rented platform presence
The platform controls reach, account access, visibility, layout, link limits and policy changes. Social and streaming remain useful, but they should lead into a destination you can maintain.
Website versus link page
A link page says, “Here are my links.” An owned artist home says, “This is the artist, this is the current work, this is why it matters and this is what you can do next.”
The five-stage visitor journey
- Recognize: artist name, visual identity, promise and current project.
- Understand: what the project is, what the music offers and how AI fits into the human-directed work.
- Listen: featured release, correct title, context and a clear listening route.
- Trust: accurate biography, credits, disclosure, contact, functioning links and policy routes.
- Continue: one clear next action such as subscribe, listen, buy, contact or request licensing information.
Choose one primary action
Do not give ten buttons equal visual weight. Select one action that matches the visitor, arrival source and current campaign. Give it the strongest benefit statement, most visible button and primary analytics event. Keep secondary links available but quieter.
Possible primary actions include email signup, listening, preorder, purchase, project waitlist, contact or licensing inquiry.
Minimum useful page structure
- Hero: artist name, positioning line, visual and one primary action.
- Featured release: title, artwork, context and listening or buying route.
- Artist introduction: concise biography, creative premise and appropriate AI disclosure.
- Email or return promise: what visitors receive, how often and why it matters.
- Platform links: streaming and social routes below the owned action.
- Catalogue or project preview: released work, selected archive or current project.
- Contact route: general, press, collaboration, licensing or commercial-use inquiries.
- Trust footer: privacy, terms, credits and relevant disclosure.
Mobile-first requirement
Most traffic may arrive from social profiles, messaging apps, QR codes, streaming profiles or email. Test headline readability, image crops, button size, form visibility, audio behaviour, spacing, contrast and horizontal scrolling on mobile before promotion.
Trust without overexplaining
Be transparent without turning the hero into a legal disclaimer. Use accurate project language, approved disclosure, creator role, credits, contact and privacy routes. Avoid unsupported ownership, originality, listener, sales or press claims.
Choose the right technology
This milestone is platform-neutral. A one-page builder, Shopify page, creator platform or self-hosted site can work. Compare creator control, mobile performance, custom domain support, email integration, analytics, update effort, commerce needs and cost.
Scale With Shopify is useful when the artist will connect digital products, memberships, merchandise, training, bundles or multiple campaigns. Shopify is not mandatory for completion.
The Academy system
Overview
Understand the purpose, inputs, page structure, visitor journey and completion standard.
Free path
Build the visitor brief, asset pack, architecture, copy, functional page, QA record and published home.
Member path
Validate alignment, conversion logic, claims, accessibility, consent, analytics and governance.
Worked example: Ember Vale gets one destination
The creator previously sends listeners to a social profile containing unrelated posts, no artist explanation, no release context and no subscription path.
A one-page home introduces Ember Vale as a fictional, human-directed cinematic electronic project centred on Glass Halo. The primary action invites visitors to join Signal Letters for release notes, visual concepts and early project updates. Listening and platform links remain secondary.
Approved result: one destination now introduces the artist, presents the current release, captures permission, supports campaigns and remains useful across profiles, press, products and future releases.

Common mistakes
- building many pages before one works;
- using social media as the main destination;
- writing copy before choosing the visitor;
- hiding the music below a long biography;
- giving every link equal importance;
- collecting email without a specific promise;
- using inconsistent artist names or outdated release assets;
- publishing without testing forms, confirmation and error states;
- ignoring accessibility, mobile speed or privacy routes;
- using fake press, audience or ownership claims.
Frequently asked questions
Does an AI artist need a website?
It is not required to create music, but an owned home reduces platform dependence and creates a durable destination for audience, campaign, product and contact activity.
What is the best first page?
A focused landing page with identity, a featured release, one primary action, an email or return path, contact information and trust routes.
Do I need Shopify?
No. Shopify is especially useful when products, memberships, direct sales or multiple campaign pages are part of the artist system.
Can I complete this with one song?
Yes. Feature it, explain the project and give visitors a reason to return.
Should music autoplay?
Usually not. Give visitors a clear play or listening action and protect page speed and accessibility.
What should I track?
Start with page visits, completed primary actions, email signups, outbound listening clicks and contact or purchase actions tied to the page purpose.
Milestone 6 completion proof
- published controlled URL;
- approved artist name, hero message and biography;
- one primary visitor and one primary action;
- featured authoritative release and artwork;
- appropriate disclosure, credits and contact route;
- specific email or return promise;
- functioning form or measurable action;
- platform, privacy and trust links;
- mobile, metadata and social-preview tests;
- analytics event, page version and review date.
Completion statement: I published an owned artist destination that introduces the project, presents the current music, captures permission or directs one measurable action and gives future campaigns a controlled destination.
