MAHONİ First Look: Mahsun Diş’s Songwriting in AI-Assisted Turkish Pop

Jack Righteous · Creator Spotlight · First Look · Updated October 28, 2026

The lyrics are Mahsun Diş's starting point. The production uses AI tools. And MAHONİ's growing run of Turkish-language releases raises a more useful question than whether one track sounds polished: what will make this project recognizable from song to song?

When Mahsun first contacted JackRighteous.com in September, he wanted to submit Usul usul for a playlist. The playlist had ended, but his explanation of the music pointed toward a different story: a songwriter using generative production to explore pop, R&B and house while keeping personal creative direction at the centre.

The writer behind the name

Mahsun describes MAHONİ as an independent music project shaped by lyrics he writes himself. In his September correspondence, he explained that AI-assisted production helps him explore the sound around those words. Published Qobuz credits list Mahsun Diş as lyricist and composer on Usul usul; MAHONİ is listed as the main artist and producer, under the Mahoni.007 label name.

The distinction matters. Describing a release as AI-assisted tells us that software contributed to the result; it does not tell us who wrote the words, chose the direction or decided what was finished. Mahsun has described his own role, although the underlying production sessions have not been independently inspected.

He also sent an English-language demo called Love, identifying its lyrics as his own. That track was shared privately for review, not described as a public release, so it is not reproduced here. Its inclusion nevertheless shows that Mahsun is exploring more than one language as he develops the project.

Start with Usul usul

The September 25 single is the track Mahsun originally submitted. At approximately one minute and 54 seconds, it is a compact introduction to the project rather than a complete portrait of the artist.

What changed after the original submission

The September correspondence described Usul usul as MAHONİ's first release on Spotify. By the time of this October 28 update, the public catalog had changed. Apple Music lists Gündoğdu yine on October 2, a three-song Öyle release on October 20, Yine bana gel on October 23, and Yar on October 25. These releases appear under the Mahoni.007 label name.

Those are publicly listed releases, not proof of an audience, sales or a particular creative workflow. Streaming catalogs can also combine artists who share a similar name, so the exact relationship among all listings is a reasonable point for Mahsun to confirm in the next conversation. What can be said now is that the public release picture is broader than the single-track snapshot received in September.

The opportunity and challenge of Turkish-language music

MAHONİ's chosen mix of Turkish lyrics and contemporary pop, R&B and house has a potential audience beyond one market—but the existence of that audience is not evidence that any particular release has reached it. In a January 2026 announcement, Spotify reported that 52 million listeners outside Türkiye had streamed at least one Turkish-language song in 2025, and that international streams of Turkish music grew by more than 160% between 2020 and 2025.

For Mahsun, the relevant next question is creative rather than statistical: what connects the writing, production choices and presentation across releases? Pop, R&B and house are broad reference points. A recognizable artist identity will depend on the decisions that persist within them.

Human direction in an AI-assisted workflow

Mahsun says he begins with his own lyrics and uses AI-assisted production to develop the music. That account is more specific than a generic “AI artist” label, but there is still useful ground to explore: which arrangements are directed in advance, how many versions are tested, which vocal or production decisions are rejected, and what must remain unchanged from one song to the next?

This distinction also matters in the wider debate about AI music. A 2026 research paper examining 377 Instagram comments in a Turkish music controversy documented concerns around originality, authorship and creative labour. Its sample describes one debate; it does not represent every Turkish listener or tell us how MAHONİ's audience responds. A clear account of the human contribution is more useful here than sweeping claims about AI acceptance or rejection.

Where the story goes next

MAHONİ already has an identifiable starting point: original lyrics, Turkish-language songwriting and AI-assisted production crossing contemporary pop styles. The recent listings invite a closer look at how that direction is developing.

  • Songwriting: Which themes or experiences does Mahsun return to, and what does he want listeners to recognize in the lyrics?
  • Creative process: What is written, performed or directed before generation, and what decisions determine the final version?
  • Identity: Which choices connect the newer releases, and how does the English-language writing fit the project?
  • Audience: Is the immediate goal to connect with Turkish-language listeners, international audiences, or a specific community not yet reached?

This First Look is an introduction, not a final judgment on the music or a claim of commercial traction. There is a creator and an evolving set of songs here, and the next conversation can show whether those pieces are becoming a coherent artistic identity.
