Flame: Choose One AI-Assisted Idea Worth Testing
Flame is the point where you stop saying, “I want to do something with AI,” and name the specific idea you are prepared to examine.
Flame is not excitement alone. It is a chosen direction.
What you will be able to do
- Separate an AI output from an idea and a project.
- Choose one direction instead of carrying several at once.
- Identify the intended person or audience.
- Describe the value or change the idea may create.
- Write a testable Flame Statement.
Output, idea and project are different
Output
What the tool produced: a song draft, paragraph, image, outline or suggestion.
Idea
What you believe may be meaningful or useful about that output.
Project
The organized work required to develop, test and place the idea.
The five Flame questions
- What is the idea? Name one thing, not a whole future business.
- Who may care about it? Identify a real type of person, reader or listener.
- What could it help them feel, understand or do?
- Why are you prepared to develop it?
- What is the smallest meaningful version you could examine?

A creator used AI to draft a short guide that helps first-time AI music creators organize their first song project.
Example Flame Statement
I am exploring a short beginner guide for first-time AI music creators because it may help them keep lyrics, prompts, versions and rights notes organized. Before building a larger training product, I need to test whether a beginner can follow the guide and finish with one controlled song-project folder.
Your exercise: write a Flame Statement
Template
I am exploring [specific idea] for [specific person or audience] because it may help them [intended value or change]. Before building bigger, I need to test [specific uncertainty].
Quality check
A usable Flame is specific, meaningful to a real person, small enough to examine, connected to a testable uncertainty and open to revision.
Common beginner mistakes
- Calling every attractive output a project.
- Combining several audiences and outcomes.
- Writing a mission statement instead of a direction.
- Treating excitement as evidence.
- Skipping directly to tools, branding or selling.
You are finished when
You can explain one idea, one intended audience, one possible value and one uncertainty without describing every future possibility.
