Uber Eats in November: What Changes After Halloween in Canada?
Share
Jack Righteous • Canada Uber Driver + Uber Eats • November 2026
November connects Halloween to the holiday shopping season. The smart question is not whether Uber demand automatically gets better; it is how weather, shorter days, meal delivery, passenger trips and shopping requests affect your own hours and after-cost results.
Two ways to work with Uber this November
Uber Driver — passengers
Different vehicle, licence, screening and insurance rules apply when carrying riders.

Food and supported Shop & Deliver requests have their own pickup and time costs.

Colder weather changes both demand and cost
Rain, early snow and colder evenings can change customer behaviour, but they also slow traffic and increase vehicle operating costs. Do not assume bad weather automatically means better net earnings.
When the clocks change in many Canadian regions on November 1, 2026, dinner may arrive earlier in the evening darkness by the clock. Rules differ between provinces and territories, so confirm local time before scheduling shifts. Reduced visibility can increase the practical cost of pickups even when order volume is unchanged.
Rain, freezing conditions, early snow and traffic delays can increase the time required for every trip. Decide when the weather or fatigue makes it safer to go offline, regardless of any app demand signal.
Shorter days change the delivery experience
More of your dinner shift may happen after dark. Visibility, pedestrian activity, parking and apartment access become more important. Build extra time into the shift rather than rushing to preserve an hourly target.
Holiday shopping starts before December
Uber's current Shop & Deliver program can include grocery and convenience orders in supported markets. As November progresses, retail and household errands can become a bigger part of the order mix.
Black Friday changes the second half of the month
Black Friday falls on November 27 in 2026. I would use the first half of the month to establish normal November numbers, then compare the Black Friday period against that baseline.
Black Friday 2026 is Friday, November 27, and Cyber Monday falls on November 30. These are different kinds of dates: busy retail traffic can make access to shops and malls harder without producing better net returns for couriers.
For approved passenger drivers, trips involving shopping areas, workplaces, hotels or events may be different from food-delivery demand. Evaluate the rideshare app signals separately; a shopping promotion is not proof that passenger rides will pay better.
What I would track in November
- gross payout and tips;
- hours online and active time;
- kilometres;
- fuel or charging;
- weather-related delay;
- restaurant and shopping wait times;
- night versus daytime efficiency.
Your November comparison: four repeatable shifts
Try a weekday lunch, a weekday dinner, one weekend meal period and one shopping- or event-affected period if it is safe. Compare the same fields every time: total hours online, trips completed, gross income including tips, kilometres, merchant or rider pickup time and estimated vehicle expenses.
Operating profit per total online hour = (gross earnings including tips once minus operating costs) divided by total online hours. Keep one-time incentives and tax reserves separate. You need your own numbers rather than assuming colder weather always improves earnings.
Use the practical Uber shift profit worksheet, the 25-Delivery Profit Test and our Canada passenger-and-delivery comparison.
