Suno Hooks & Features Guide 2026: What Matters Now

If you found this page looking for the old V5 “Hoooks” feature, the useful idea survived—but the platform around it changed. Suno now calls the feature Hooks: short-form videos that pair your Suno music with your own visual content for sharing inside the Suno community.

Fast answer:

Use Hooks when you already have a song and want to package one strong moment as short-form visual content. Use Studio, Remix & Edit, Voices, stems and the v6 model family when the problem is still the song itself.

Do not use a discovery feature to fix a production problem

The song itself is weak

Stay in creation. Fix the hook, vocal, section, arrangement or mix before promoting it.

The song works but one section does not

Use Remix & Edit / Replace Section rather than rebuilding the entire track.

You need deeper production control

Move into Studio for timeline, clip, MIDI, plugin and multitrack work.

You have a keeper people should hear

Now Hooks makes sense: choose the strongest moment and build a short visual around it.

What Hooks actually is in 2026

Suno describes Hooks as a way to combine your music and a video into short-form content for the Suno community. You choose the song, choose where the music starts, upload a video from your device, optionally show lyrics, and post it to the Hooks feed.

Other users can interact with Hooks through actions such as thumbs-up, comments, sharing and remixing.

Important correction to the old version of this article:

I am not treating a like or thumbs-up as proof of a ranking boost. Suno documents interaction with Hooks, but that is different from publishing a verified recommendation-algorithm formula. Build the Hook for attention and response—not because someone promised one engagement action will trigger distribution.

How to create a Hook now

  1. Start with a keeper song. Do not promote the version you are still trying to repair.
  2. Open Create a Hook. Choose a song from your available library options.
  3. Choose the start point. Scrub to the exact musical moment that earns attention quickly.
  4. Upload a video. Hooks pairs your song with visual content you provide; Suno does not simply turn the audio into a finished viral video for you.
  5. Decide whether lyrics help. Use Show Lyrics when words strengthen the moment rather than clutter it.
  6. Post to the Hooks feed. Then judge the response as audience evidence, not as a guarantee of algorithmic promotion.

The creator decision: which moment deserves the Hook?

Immediate chorus payoff

Use when the chorus communicates the song quickly and the lyric or melody lands without setup.

Drop or instrumental turn

Use when the production itself is the memorable event.

One lyric that explains the song

Use when a single line creates curiosity, emotion or identification fast.

Unexpected contrast

Use when the strongest moment is the switch: quiet to huge, spoken to sung, sparse to full, or another clear transition.

A Hook is a content asset, not proof that the song is finished

A strong 15–30 second moment can expose both strengths and weaknesses. If the clip only works because you cut around a bad transition, weak second verse or unstable vocal, you have learned something useful about the song.

JR rule:

If the short clip is stronger than the full song, decide whether you have a promotion problem or a song-development problem before spending more time on reach.

What else matters in Suno now

V6 model family

v6 is the flagship controlled model; v6-wild is the more exploratory lane. Choose by the kind of result you need rather than automatically using the newest option the same way for every song.

Studio 2.0

Studio has become a much deeper browser production environment, including multitrack work, improved MIDI workflows, clip controls and a chat-based editing layer.

Voices

Voices gives creators a reusable verified vocal-identity workflow. That is separate from ordinary prompting and from Audio Upload.

Stem separation

Current stem tools include targeted extraction, automatic splits and more advanced separation options depending on plan and workflow.

Lyrics workspace

Suno has expanded lyric drafting and editing with natural-language edits, structure labels, references and autosave.

Remix & Edit

Cover, Extend and Replace Section make it increasingly unnecessary to throw away a strong song because one layer failed.

A better Hooks workflow

  1. Choose the song. One keeper, not six unfinished candidates.
  2. Identify the single strongest moment. Chorus, lyric, drop, transition or visual idea.
  3. Decide what the visual adds. Context, story, personality, lyric emphasis or movement.
  4. Create one clean Hook. Do not bury the moment under excessive text.
  5. Watch actual audience behavior. Comments, shares, remixes and qualitative reactions can tell you what people noticed.
  6. Use the evidence. Promote the keeper, refine the full song, or test a different moment.
