Goal: Write effective prompts using a simple 4-part formula plus ready templates.

Last updated:

What you’ll learn

  • The 4-part prompt formula (Emotion → Genre → Instruments → Structure)
  • Optional Persona and FX/texture cues
  • Copy-paste templates for common tasks
  • Quick fixes when results miss the mark

Keyboard & screen-reader tips

  • Find the Create field via Cmd/Ctrl+F “Prompt”.
  • Tab/Shift+Tab to move; Enter/Space to submit.

The 4-part prompt formula (Beginner)

  1. Emotion (one word): hopeful, melancholic, energetic, dark.
  2. Genre (max two): pop, lo-fi hip hop, gospel-trap.
  3. Instruments/texture (1–3): bright synths, warm keys, 808 bass.
  4. Structure cue: start soft → big chorus → short bridge (or loop-friendly).

Optional: Persona for vocals (e.g., warm, clear lead; light harmonies). Optional: FX/texture (subtle vinyl crackle, reverb-heavy pads, clean mix).

Skeleton to copy

Create a [mood] [genre] track with [instrument focus].
Structure: [flow cue].
[Vocals optional: tone/persona]. [FX/texture, optional].

Instrumental example

Create a calm lo-fi hip hop track with soft keys and vinyl crackle.
Structure: steady groove; minimal variation; loop-friendly.

Full song example

Create an uplifting pop song with bright synths and clean drums.
Structure: start soft → strong chorus → short bridge.
Vocals warm and clear with layered harmonies in the chorus.

Copy-paste templates

Mood + Genre Builder

Create a [mood] [genre] track with [instrument(s)].
Structure: [cue]. [Vocals/FX optional].

Sectioned Song (explicit)

[Intro] [texture]
[Verse] [vocal tone + theme]
[Chorus] [peak emotion + lead instrument]
[Bridge] [contrast or drop]
[Chorus 2] [bigger finish]

Lyric-sync Shell

Create a [genre] song to fit lyrics about [theme]. Emphasize [emotion].
Structure mirrors: Verse, Chorus, Bridge. Vocals [tone/persona].

Loop-friendly Builder (30–90s)

Make a loop-friendly [genre] piece with [textures].
Keep a steady groove and subtle variation; no big drops or endings.

Genre Flip (cover/re-prompt)

Rebuild the [original genre] idea as a [target genre] version using [new instruments];
keep original structure and tempo feel.

Quick chooser (safe pairs)

  • Lo-fi hip hop + relaxed → warm keys, soft drums
  • Pop + uplifting → bright synths, catchy chorus
  • Gospel + hopeful → piano/organ, simple choir stacks
  • Trap + dark → 808 bass, sparse piano or pads

Common mistakes & fixes

  • Too vague: add emotion, genre, 1–3 instruments, structure.
  • Too many genres: limit to two; describe instruments instead.
  • Vocals unclear: specify “clear, articulated; present in mix” and Remaster later.
  • Repetition: include a structure cue or plan a Replace for variation.
