Final Master & Deliverables

WHERE YOU ARE: The edit is approved. Now the question changes from “does the song work?” to “can I reliably identify, preserve and hand off the finished recording?”

YOU SHOULD ALREADY HAVE

The exact approved version and your Final Edit Record.

THE DECISION

Which file is the release master, and what supporting audio/source assets actually exist for this recording?

DO THE WORK

  1. Export the highest-quality lossless master available from the final workflow.
  2. Use a deliberate filename containing artist/project, track title and a clear master/version marker.
  3. Play the exported file—not merely the session—from beginning to end.
  4. Confirm the beginning and ending are intact and there is no clipping, accidental silence, truncation or export error.
  5. Preserve stems, instrumental, clean version, alternate mix or source project only when they genuinely exist or are strategically required. Do not fabricate deliverables.
  6. Keep one untouched archive copy of the approved master.
  7. Place the master and supporting files in a controlled project folder.
Professional rule: “final.wav,” “final2.wav” and “final-final-new.wav” are not a handoff system. A stranger should be able to identify the approved master without asking you which file is real.

JR SUPPORT

Suno Studio 2.0 Export Guide — when to stay in Studio versus move to a DAW.

Audacity Cleanup & Export Workflow — optional final cleanup/export support.

AI Music Proof File Template — recommended evidence-folder structure.

SAVE THIS

Save a Master Manifest: approved filename, format, duration, export date, archive location and a list of supporting files that actually exist.

DO NOT ADVANCE IF

  • You cannot identify one approved master instantly.
  • The exported master has not been listened to in full.
  • Your only copy is inside one app, session or device.
  • The source and finished files are mixed together without clear naming.

READY TO CONTINUE WHEN

The audio package can be handed to another professional without needing a verbal explanation of which file is final.
