TikTok + Shopify 2026 Checklist: Setup, Content, Ads & Conversion QA

Gary Whittaker

Shopify · TikTok · QA Checklist

Use this checklist as a launch gate—not as a quota for how often you must post, advertise or discount.

A TikTok + Shopify system is ready when the route is eligible, the product is clear, measurement works, commercial rights are clean and a real customer can complete the intended action on mobile.

Updated September 7, 2026.
The old checklist prescribed daily ad budgets, weekly content quotas, bi-weekly Spark Ads, monthly urgency offers and an expired Shopify promotional price. Those time/budget prescriptions are removed. This is now a reusable QA tool.

1. Commerce route

☐ I know whether I am using TikTok Shop checkout or sending people to my Shopify online store.

☐ If using TikTok Shop, my store country is currently supported and my business/shop verification is complete.

☐ My products are eligible for the relevant TikTok Shop market/category.

☐ If TikTok Shop is unavailable, my content/ads point to the correct Shopify destination instead of implying in-app checkout.

☐ I understand where payment, refund, return and fulfillment actions occur for my chosen route.

2. Shopify product and mobile path

☐ The TikTok promise matches the product/landing-page headline.

☐ Product image/video, title and price are immediately understandable on a phone.

☐ Variants are easy to choose.

☐ Shipping/fulfillment expectations are clear where applicable.

☐ Return/refund policies are accessible.

☐ The page loads acceptably on mobile.

☐ Add-to-cart and checkout work from a mobile device.

☐ Confirmation/order communication works after purchase.

3. Catalog and channel setup

☐ The correct TikTok sales channel/app/account is connected.

☐ Only intended products are published/synced.

☐ Product status has been checked for approval or errors.

☐ Inventory and availability behave as expected.

☐ Price/currency match the intended market and sales-channel strategy.

☐ Any channel-specific catalog or market configuration has been reviewed.

4. Tracking and measurement

☐ I know the one primary event that defines success for this campaign.

☐ The relevant Shopify/TikTok measurement integration is connected.

☐ Product-view/content-view events fire where expected.

☐ Add-to-cart fires correctly.

☐ Checkout initiation fires correctly.

☐ Completed-payment/purchase data is recorded where expected.

☐ Lead/subscription events are tested if that is the actual objective.

☐ I completed an end-to-end test rather than assuming installation means tracking works.

5. Creative and audience proof

☐ The first moments make the product/problem clear enough for the right viewer to continue.

☐ The content demonstrates, explains or proves something rather than functioning as a generic ad.

☐ I know which audience the creative is intended for.

☐ The CTA matches the viewer's current level of trust.

☐ If I am amplifying organic content, I have some evidence of audience fit—not necessarily virality, but relevant response.

☐ Any creator/customer content used in an ad is authorized and properly disclosed.

6. Music, AI and commercial-rights check

☐ Music used in commercial content is cleared for the way I am using it.

☐ I am not assuming a trending creator sound is automatically licensed for advertising.

☐ AI-generated music/voice/visual/video use is allowed under the relevant tool terms for this commercial use.

☐ Any real person's voice, likeness or identity is authorized where required.

☐ TikTok AI-generated-content labeling has been applied when current rules require it.

☐ I kept source, license and creation records for important commercial assets.

7. Paid campaign gate

☐ The store path works before I buy traffic.

☐ I chose one campaign objective.

☐ I know which creative is being tested and why.

☐ I defined the business metric that matters after the click/view.

☐ I know what result would cause me to stop or revise.

☐ I know what result would justify another test.

☐ My test budget is based on what I can afford to learn—not an old article's hard-coded daily amount.

8. Funnel diagnosis after launch

Weak attention?

Review creative, opening, product visibility and audience fit.

Views but no clicks?

Review the offer, CTA and whether leaving TikTok is worth it.

Clicks but no product engagement?

Review message match, speed and landing-page clarity.

Cart but no purchase?

Review price, shipping, trust, checkout friction and payment options.

Sales but poor economics?

Review margin, acquisition cost, refunds, repeat value and discount dependence.

Tracking does not reconcile?

Fix measurement before scaling based on unreliable data.

9. Review cadence

There is no universal requirement to post five times a week, run Spark Ads every two weeks or launch a flash sale every month. Review often enough to learn from real traffic and purchases, and change the weakest justified part of the system.

A useful review asks:

  • What did the viewer understand?
  • Where did the customer path weaken?
  • Which result is signal versus noise?
  • What one major variable should change next?
  • What should remain untouched so the next test teaches us something?
Pass/fail standard:
If you cannot explain the route, tracking, rights, destination and success metric in plain language, the system is not ready to scale.

Use the right page for the next action

Current-reference note: TikTok Shop eligibility, Shopify integrations, ad products, measurement events and commerce rules can change. Re-check current platform requirements before major launches.
