Build the Work: Turn a Direction Into Music You Can Control
Modules 1 and 2 gave you a target and a chosen direction. Module 3 is where you develop the actual work—songwriting, structure, prompting, performance, arrangement, editing, iteration and quality control—without losing the reason the project exists.
You are not trying to make every detail final. You are trying to reach one developed working version that is coherent enough to judge as a whole.
Module 3 outcome: one named working version, one protected strength, a functioning song structure, intentional performance and arrangement decisions, documented revisions, a developmental quality-control pass and a short list of remaining issues for Module 4.

WRITE — Give every section a job
Before polishing words or prompts, decide what the listener needs from the intro, verse, pre-chorus, chorus, bridge, drop, instrumental passage and ending. Keep only sections that earn their place.

DIRECT — Translate intent into instructions
A prompt is not the creative direction; it is one way to communicate it to a tool. Direct the musical job: energy, tempo feel, rhythmic behavior, instrumentation, vocal role, section contrast, space and movement.

PERFORM & ARRANGE — Make the song move
Judge whether the voice, instruments and arrangement carry the intended emotion. Look for believable phrasing, contrast, tension and release, useful negative space, section entrances and an ending that feels earned.

REPAIR — Change the smallest thing that solves the blocker
Protect what works. Name one audible problem, choose the smallest intervention and compare the result against the protected version. Do not rebuild an entire song because one section is weak.
CHECK — Decide whether the version deserves to advance
Run a developmental QC pass: listen as a listener and inspect as a creator. Check song strength, performance, obvious production artifacts, awkward transitions, unintended repetition and whether the current version is coherent enough to carry into finishing. Do not treat this as the final release-readiness verdict.

Module 3 asks whether the developed working version is coherent enough to stop broad building and enter finishing. The Human-Quality Pass is the final diagnostic inside Module 4 · Finish the Work, where presentation, provenance, documentation, packaging and release-readiness are evaluated against the exact finishing candidate.
If the remaining blocker is final validation, documentation, packaging, readiness or release, stop BUILD and continue to Module 4. Do not keep regenerating or use a Track Builder Ready/Release route as a shortcut around the Stage 1 capstone.
The idea, hook, lyric, section purpose or overall arc is not doing its job.
Performance / generation
The musical idea works, but the voice, phrasing, instrumentation or generated execution does not.
Arrangement / production
The ingredients work, but energy, density, transitions, space, balance or technical artifacts weaken the experience.
Decision / evidence
You have several plausible versions but no documented reason to keep generating, repair, combine or advance.
Rule: solve the earliest problem whose answer changes the work that follows. A better mix cannot rescue a song structure you already know is wrong.
Common ways creators lose control
Prompt cycling: changing words repeatedly without identifying the musical problem.
Regeneration as avoidance: generating again instead of deciding what the current version needs.
Fixing everything at once: losing useful evidence about what caused the improvement.
Polishing before structure: improving sound quality on a version that still has a weak song.
Protecting nothing: accidentally removing the best part while repairing a smaller problem.
No version record: being unable to explain which version is current or why it advanced.

You are done with Module 3 LEARN when: one developed version has a clear structure, intentional performance and arrangement choices, a named protected strength, documented revisions, a developmental quality-control result and no more than a short explicit list of issues that must be resolved in Module 4 before finishing.

Where you are
You have a selected direction and a developed working version. Depending on how it was built, the asset may still be mostly AI-generated, or it may already contain meaningful human writing, performance, arrangement, editing or production.
What you must contribute
Make substantive creative decisions where the project needs them: write or materially rewrite lyrics, perform or direct performance, restructure sections, arrange, reconstruct weak passages, edit generated material, preserve exact human takes, make production decisions and reject outputs that do not serve the brief.
Evidence to keep
Retain human drafts, raw performances, prompts/instructions where material, source files, selected and rejected generations, version lineage, stems/project files where used, edit history, the Build Control Map and short notes explaining the decisions that materially changed the work.
What this can support
Substantive human work can support movement from AI GENERATED → AI ASSISTED → HUMAN LED + AI. When that contribution and lineage are actually preserved, the project may also move toward HUMAN AUTHORSHIP DOCUMENTED. The state depends on the work performed—not the app used.
What this does not prove
Detailed prompting alone does not establish strong authorship. Nor do human edits automatically prove copyrightability, ownership, third-party rights clearance, SOUND READY or RELEASE READY. Those conclusions require their own evidence and, where relevant, professional legal review.
Next human-control step
If the working version is coherent and the remaining issues are finishing/QC/documentation problems, stop broad generation and move to Module 4. If the song still needs material writing, performance, arrangement or structural work, remain here and solve the earliest blocker first.
Module 4 is the capstone for Stage 1. Choose the final working version, resolve the last important issues, run the final Human-Quality Pass, document the project, package the assets and decide what the finished work is for.
