Suno Studio: Record Audio to the Timeline — FAQ with Timecodes
Series: Studio Fundamentals · Hosts: Luke & Henry · Focus: Recording onto the timeline, layering takes, transforming with Create, and comparing before/after results.
How do I pick my audio input?
Open the track’s input menu, pick your mic (e.g., MacBook Pro microphone), and allow browser permission if prompted. Use headphones to avoid bleed.
How do I set tempo and click before recording?
Set project tempo (e.g., 85 BPM) and toggle the metronome. Arm the track so it receives the mic input.
How do I record my first take?
Click Record, perform, then wait for the upload to finish. If there’s latency, nudge the region to the grid.
How do I layer a second recording?
Create a new track, select its input, arm it, record the next part, then align to the grid.
How do I use my recordings to generate a new part?
Open the Create panel (press
1
), select your recorded regions, and drag the selection into the panel to prepare the audio input.Which Create mode should I use?
Choose Cover to restyle while keeping your melodic idea. Set styles like “orchestral, string arrangement, lush and flowing, low soft brass,” then open Advanced and raise Audio Influence slightly.
How do I preview generations and pull them onto the timeline?
Open Workspace to watch generations arrive, audition them, then drag the chosen result into the timeline.
What’s the best way to compare before vs. after?
Mute/solo between your vocal reference and the generated track to A/B the result and confirm the transformation.
How do these features stack into a full workflow?
Record ideas to the timeline, add new stems in context, export or generate new material with Create, then bring it back as full song or stems.
