Capture Someone Else’s Voice Without Imitating Them

AI Writing Assistance · Applied Publishing · Public Lesson 46

This block applies the system to manuscripts, client work, repurposing and content-library operations.

Writing for someone else is not an impersonation exercise. The goal is to preserve their meaning, level of directness and natural communication patterns without manufacturing a caricature.

The Jack Righteous approach

Build the voice from approved source material and let the client remain the authority on what sounds like them.

Use this workflow

  1. Collect interviews and writing samples.
  2. Identify stable communication patterns across more than one source.
  3. Separate personal quirks from useful voice guidance.
  4. Draft conservatively when the source is thin.
  5. Ask the person to approve meaningful tone choices.

Why this matters

Real projects introduce consequences that prompt demos often ignore: other people's identities, source accuracy, client approvals, continuity, public links, repurposing decisions and the cumulative consistency of a whole library. The workflow has to survive those conditions, not just generate attractive prose.

A prompt you can actually use

Copy and adapt:

Analyze these approved samples for communication patterns that can guide drafting. Do not imitate unusual phrases mechanically or invent personality. Separate strong evidence from tentative observations so the speaker can approve the profile.

What a useful AI response should do

A useful response should make the material easier to inspect and the next human decision easier to see. It should not hide uncertainty, invent missing approval, turn interpretation into fact or substitute clean wording for responsible publication.

Your five-minute exercise

A stable communication pattern is: ______________________________

A phrase I should not overgeneralize is: ______________________________

A tone choice that needs approval is: ______________________________

The client should confirm: ______________________________

What the human still decides

AI can organize, compare, adapt and flag risk. The writer, creator or client still decides what is true, fair, intentional, approved and ready to publish. That responsibility does not disappear because the workflow got faster.
