Before opening another tool, name the part of the project that matters enough to protect. That can be original lyrics, melody, raw vocal, instrument performance, source recording, story, arrangement decision or a defined musical identity.

Use AI for cleanup, separation, assistance or technical jobs that serve a decision you already made.
Keep the job narrow
The clearer the job, the easier it is to tell whether the AI helped or quietly changed something you meant to preserve.
Generate only enough to answer the question.
Two to four useful comparisons are usually enough. Compare every candidate against the protected human source and the same creative brief.
- Did the AI support the human element you wanted to preserve?
- Did it improve the defined job—or simply sound newer?
- What changed that you did not ask to change?
- Which version gives you the best foundation for direct human work?
Bring your own work back into the song.
This is the key AI-Assisted step. The project becomes stronger when your writing, performance, arrangement, editing or production decisions materially shape what listeners will actually hear.

Restore or create lyrics, melody, hook, structure, narration or musical language.
Perform / record
Add your vocal, instrument, spoken part or other authorized human performance.
Arrange / restructure
Move sections, remove repetition, rebuild transitions, change instrumentation or reshape the arc.
Edit / produce
Make direct choices about timing, stems, balance, texture, automation, repair, mix and mastering.
If the project now needs deeper recording, editing, mix control or direct production, move into Full Production. If you are doing this work for another person, move into the Producer Path.
Keep the evidence that matches the human contribution.
You do not need a legal archive for every experiment. Once a project matters, keep enough evidence to explain what came from you, what AI did, what changed and what permissions support the result.

Briefs, lyrics, drafts, melody notes, raw performances, arrangement decisions, rejected versions and selection reasons.
Production evidence
Editable sessions, stems where relevant, before/after versions, direct edits, mix decisions, exports and final master.
Rights evidence
Platform/plan context, source ownership, licenses, collaborator agreements, samples, voice/likeness consent and permissions.
