Black Friday Shopify Checklist for Creators: Store, Offer and Delivery

Use this as a pass/fail gate before you send more traffic. A promotion is not ready because the graphics are finished.

Offer

  • ☐ One audience is clearly named.
  • ☐ The offer solves one understandable problem.
  • ☐ Included products and exclusions are clear.
  • ☐ Sale window and pricing are accurate.
  • ☐ No false income, scarcity or outcome claims.

Store

  • ☐ Product page works on mobile.
  • ☐ Price, currency and variants display correctly.
  • ☐ Policies and support are visible.
  • ☐ Cart and checkout work.
  • ☐ Delivery expectation is obvious.

Email and content

  • ☐ Launch message matches the product page.
  • ☐ Links point to the intended destination.
  • ☐ Affiliate/sponsor relationships are disclosed where relevant.
  • ☐ Existing customers are not pushed into duplicate purchases.

Measurement

  • ☐ Analytics are receiving traffic.
  • ☐ Purchase or lead events are visible.
  • ☐ Source conventions are usable.
  • ☐ You know the metric that decides whether the campaign worked.

Post-purchase

  • ☐ Confirmation arrives.
  • ☐ Access/download instructions work.
  • ☐ Support route is clear.
  • ☐ First-use onboarding exists when needed.
JR pass/fail rule: if you cannot successfully complete the journey yourself on a phone, do not pay to send more people into it.

Use this checklist as a launch gate, not decoration

This worksheet is for your own Black Friday/Cyber Monday sale, product launch, workshop, music release or evergreen store. It does not advertise a Jack Righteous promotion. The goal is to prevent traffic from reaching a purchase or download path that cannot fulfill what you promise.

Mark each item: GREEN = you completed the test and have evidence. YELLOW = incomplete or uncertain; repair before launch. RED = a customer could be charged incorrectly, misled, lose access or have rights/privacy violated; stop the campaign until fixed. Color is an operating decision, not a numerical score.

Critical rule: A test is GREEN only after actually completing it. “Looks fine in the editor” is not evidence that a shopper can pay and receive the deliverable.

1. Offer and product truth

  • ☐ The product names one specific audience and job; the promise is accurate.
  • ☐ Every included file, lesson, print variant, component or service is listed and available.
  • ☐ The customer can understand price, currency, delivery, access period, update entitlement and limitations without guessing.
  • ☐ Any bundle saves money only when a real valid comparison supports the saving; no inflated crossed-out price.
  • ☐ Any discount applies to the intended items and customer conditions. Verify eligible products, minimums, dates and whether the code or automatic discount can combine with other promotions.
  • ☐ Digital-commercial use, artwork, samples, voices, source audio and third-party contributions are checked against your actual permissions.
  • ☐ Refund, support and access information is visible; none of it contradicts the product page.

Example: An AI instrumental pack promises “10 MP3 tracks for use in your own videos.” Confirm there are ten accessible files and that their specific rights allow the stated video use. “Royalty-free” should not be copied from a competitor if your sources do not grant it.

2. Product page, accessibility and device check

  • ☐ On a real phone, the main heading, price, product description and purchase action are legible.
  • ☐ The cover actually matches the product; crops do not hide essential information.
  • ☐ Text contrast, meaningful alt text, descriptive links and tap target size support different readers.
  • ☐ Important exclusions and product delivery information are not hidden below irrelevant testimonials or large galleries.
  • ☐ Each variant works; the displayed price and selected variant match what will be ordered.
  • ☐ The page has one clear next action; related content helps users rather than distracting them from the decision.
  • ☐ Test phone and desktop, plus at least one browser or device outside your admin session.

Failure example: A journal is correctly advertised at one price until the shopper changes the size; the page still shows the old total. Keep the item YELLOW/RED until the selection and checkout agree.

3. Check actual cart, payment and order confirmation

Create a safe Shopify test scenario using the documented testing method applicable to your payment provider, store and plan. Do not make uncontrolled test charges to a customer's account. Test markets, shipping addresses and currency realistically.

  1. Open the product URL as a normal shopper and select the correct variant.
  2. Add to cart; check quantity, eligible discounts and cart value.
  3. Move to checkout. Verify the correct product, delivery address, tax/shipping where appropriate, currency and payment options.
  4. Complete an authorized test order or controlled real purchase following Shopify's procedures. Confirm that the order exists in the admin and that the customer confirmation matches what occurred.
  5. For a digital file, open the link received through your actual delivery app. Download it, unzip it, open each format and read the first-use instructions.
  6. For physical products, check fulfillment rules, inventory, shipping methods and realistic dispatch/delivery messaging.
  7. For gated training or services, verify the granted access level and instructions work when logged out, signed in and with the correct entitlement.

Shopify offers a Digital Products app with file/link assets and delivery controls; products may use other apps. Do not assume Shopify automatically emails arbitrary files just because the product is marked digital. The discount-combination rules matter if multiple offers exist.

4. Verify measurement without confusing bots with buyers

A sudden increase in sessions, add-to-carts or checkout events is not necessarily an increase in real buyers. Automatic agents, internal testing, duplicate events and crawlers can distort the picture.

  • ☐ Clearly distinguish human-qualified engagement from raw sessions.
  • ☐ The product landing URL and source tags lead to the intended page.
  • ☐ View-product, add-to-cart, checkout and purchase events are configured and not double-counted in reporting.
  • ☐ A test order has a traceable order identifier and is not treated as business revenue in analysis.
  • ☐ You know the difference between Shopify's confirmed orders and analytics-estimated purchase events.
  • ☐ Free resource downloads, consented subscriptions and paid purchases are distinct outcomes.
  • ☐ The single success measure answers a real decision: did this offer attract and serve the right customers?

Practical rule: When checkout events rise but completed paid orders do not, inspect checkout restrictions, payment failures, item eligibility and human-vs-automated patterns before asserting that the creative or traffic quality is the problem.

5. Readiness for customer communications

  • ☐ Confirmation and service messages accurately describe the order and access.
  • ☐ The marketing audience is permission-based; unsubscribe requests are honored and required contact details are present.
  • ☐ Subject lines, email body, price, deadline and landing page are consistent.
  • ☐ Existing buyers do not receive confusing pitches to repurchase what they already own.
  • ☐ Links and personalization placeholders have been previewed with test recipient data.
  • ☐ You have a practical route for a customer who cannot receive the email or open a file.

Shopify's current email tool is Shopify Messaging, formerly Shopify Email. Consult its consent and legal guidance. Four emails are not mandatory; send only the messages that meet a genuine customer need and applicable permissions.

6. First-use delivery and support

Ask a test recipient to use the product without coaching. Can they identify the first file, understand any prerequisites and complete one basic task? A complicated file bundle or confusing course-access gate can erase the value created by an otherwise successful checkout.

  • ☐ The purchaser can explain what they bought and where it is.
  • ☐ The buyer can open the package or activate the legitimate member entitlement.
  • ☐ Written setup instructions are accessible, readable and relevant.
  • ☐ Support requests have a response route and a way to verify purchase/access.
  • ☐ You know what can fail after checkout (expired links, wrong email, inactive account, out-of-stock items).
  • ☐ A customer who bought earlier is not forced to buy again to obtain material already owed under their original terms.

7. Record the evidence — printable readiness audit

Copy or print this audit, then enter the proof for each gate. One broken customer-critical gate prevents a GREEN overall decision. Green is a record of a successful test, not a visual impression.
