How to Release Your AI Music on Bandcamp

How to Release Your AI Music on Bandcamp

A Step-by-Step Guide for Independent Creators Using Suno, BandLab, ChatGPT, or Any AI Tool

Quick Guide

Why Bandcamp?

If you're building music with tools like Suno, BandLab, or ChatGPT, having a direct-to-fan release strategy is non-negotiable.

If I had to choose only one direct-to-fan path, I’d start with my own domain and use Shopify — it gives full control over branding, funnels, and products.

That said, adding a Bandcamp release extends your reach, taps into a supportive music-first audience, and takes less than 10 minutes to set up. You can start earning immediately, build credibility, and keep 85–90% of sales revenue.

Bandcamp is one of the fastest, most efficient ways to launch your track and connect with real supporters — even while you’re still building out your other systems.

STEP 1 – Prepare Your Files

  • Audio File: WAV, FLAC, or AIFF (max 291MB)
  • Cover Art: At least 1400 x 1400 pixels (JPG, PNG, or GIF, under 10MB)
  • Track Title: Clear and aligned with your brand
  • Optional: Full lyrics, track credits, ISRC code, tags

STEP 2 – Upload to Bandcamp

Create or log into your Bandcamp artist account. From your dashboard, click “Add Track.”

STEP 3 – Fill Track Form

  • Track Title: Simple, clean, searchable
  • Audio File: Upload your final WAV
  • Artwork: Upload 1400x1400 or larger
  • Description: Brief, brand-aligned track summary
  • Lyrics: Full lyrics or chorus (optional but recommended)
  • Credits: List tools, systems, collaborators
  • Tags: Genre, emotion, AI tools, brand identity
  • Pricing: $1.50+ with “let fans pay more” enabled

STEP 4 – Choose Your License

Recommended: All Rights Reserved

This gives you full ownership and protection. No one can reuse, remix, or monetize your track without permission.

Only choose Creative Commons if you understand the licensing risks.

STEP 5 – Set Visibility + Release Date

  • Visibility: Public, private, or subscriber-only
  • Release Date: Optional (set or leave blank)

STEP 6 – Add a Personal Note (Optional)

Write a short message that followers will receive when the track is published.

Example: This release marks the first in my independent AI music series. Thank you for being part of this movement.

STEP 7 – Click “Publish” and Go Live

Once published, share the direct Bandcamp link everywhere:

  • Instagram Reels / Stories
  • YouTube Shorts or Community tab
  • Facebook groups, newsletters, and product pages

🔐 License Breakdown for AI Music Creators

All Rights Reserved

This is the default and recommended setting for AI-assisted or hybrid music. You maintain full control over your:

  • Monetization (sales, streaming, licensing)
  • Brand protection
  • Sync and product uses

Creative Commons Licenses (Use With Caution)

License Allows Caution
BY Reuse/remix with credit Others can profit from your track
BY-NC Non-commercial use only “Non-commercial” is vague legally
BY-ND No remix, just share Still allows reposting and redistribution
BY-SA Remixes must use same license Restricts future licensing
BY-NC-SA / BY-NC-ND Combo limits Not ideal for monetized ecosystems

Bottom line: Stick with All Rights Reserved unless you are intentionally building a remix culture around your track and fully understand the risks.
