Before memorizing a platform control, identify the production decision underneath it. That makes your workflow more portable when a tool changes its interface or you move to another generation system.

How strongly should uploaded or selected audio remain present in the new result?

The useful habit: name the job before touching the control. If the real problem is weak lyrics, poor structure, a noisy upload or an exact performance you must preserve, a slider may not be the right solution.

Raise it when the uploaded melody, rhythm, phrasing or vocal identity matters. Lower it when the result remains too close to the reference and you want more reinterpretation.

There is no universal best setting. These are practical Jack Righteous testing positions—not official Suno presets, defaults or guarantees. Start here, listen, then change one variable.

Avoid fake precision. A setting of 72 is not inherently wiser than 70. Ranges and controlled comparisons are more useful than one “magic” number.

Apply the principle

The four-generation slider test

Use the same lyrics, Styles text, model and source audio for all four tests. Save each result before changing anything. The goal is to learn which input is causing the change.

Build the baseline

Put each available control near the middle. Listen for genre, hook, structure, vocal character and source carry-through.

Change Weirdness

Simplify the Styles field to one coherent lane, then raise Style Influence moderately.

Every result sounds generic

Add one distinctive musical detail and raise Weirdness slightly.

The song becomes chaotic

Lower Weirdness and reserve experimentation for a bridge or alternate version.

The upload is barely present

Use the cleanest relevant excerpt and raise Audio Influence gradually.

The upload dominates

Lower Audio Influence and make the desired transformation explicit in Styles.

My Voice is inconsistent

Use clean voice material, simplify vocal instructions and test Audio Influence deliberately.

Nothing I change is measurable

Restore one baseline and move only one control by a meaningful amount.
