VIP Milestone 4: Build Your Human Contribution Evidence System
Gary WhittakerVIP Pro Work Template — Creator Project Milestone 4
Turn a contribution statement into a working evidence system.
The free Milestone 4 pages help you identify and record your human contribution. This VIP implementation creates a stronger, dated evidence file that supports accurate project claims, collaborator clarity, rights review and future publishing decisions.
1. Choose the correct contribution profile
Most projects combine three profiles. Rank them instead of forcing every creator into one label.
- Author-led: You create substantial original language, composition, teaching, story, analysis or performance.
- Director-editor-led: You define the system, direct generation, compare options and substantially revise or assemble the work.
- Curator-producer-led: You source, select, sequence, package and publish material into a coherent experience or offer.
State which profile is primary and what evidence supports it.
2. Build the stage-by-stage contribution matrix
| Stage | Human action | AI or external assistance | Evidence | Open question |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Definition | ||||
| Research | ||||
| Creation | ||||
| Revision | ||||
| Publication |
3. Grade the evidence
- Grade A — Native dated evidence: source files, version history, project files, original recordings, tracked changes or platform history created during the work.
- Grade B — Supporting records: prompts, exports, screenshots, notes, emails, briefs, receipts, licence records and collaborator correspondence.
- Grade C — Retrospective explanation: a later statement based mainly on memory.
- Grade D — Unsupported claim: an assertion with no identified record.
Important claims should not depend only on Grades C or D. Add evidence or narrow the claim.
4. Create the contribution timeline
Record the major dates in sequence: original concept, first source material, first tool use, major generated outputs, selection decisions, substantial revisions, collaborator additions, final review and publication approval. Link every event to a file or record where possible.
5. Build the AI tool and model log
For each important use, capture:
- tool, model or version when known;
- account or workspace used;
- date and purpose;
- human input or source material;
- output retained;
- human changes after output;
- relevant platform terms or uncertainty at that time.
6. Build the source, asset and collaborator register
| Item/person | Role in project | Source | Permission or agreement | Attribution | Status |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Cleared / Review / Replace | |||||
| Cleared / Review / Replace |
7. Preserve transformation evidence
Choose three important components and save a before-and-after pair. Explain the human decision between them.
- Before: original note, raw generation, draft, demo or design.
- Decision: what was wrong, incomplete or inconsistent with the outcome.
- After: the revised component.
- Contribution: the specific judgment, writing, editing, performance, arrangement or production applied.
8. Map public claims to evidence
Create a list of statements you may use on product pages, credits, applications, disclosures or client materials. For each claim, identify the supporting record and safer wording.
| Proposed claim | Supporting evidence | Risk or ambiguity | Approved wording |
|---|---|---|---|
| Written by... | |||
| Produced by... | |||
| AI-assisted... |
9. Apply the three Core Paths
- Find Your Sound: Document lyrics, musical direction, reference analysis, prompt iterations, generation selection, stem work, arrangement, performance, mixing and mastering decisions.
- Find Your Voice: Document thesis, perspective, personal experience, research questions, writing, script changes, examples, fact-checking and editorial judgment.
- Find Your Brand: Document positioning, audience promise, naming, visual direction, offer design, claims, disclosures and the final public presentation.
10. Run the risk audit
- Is any authorship or production claim broader than the evidence?
- Is third-party material missing a source, licence or agreement?
- Does the project use a real person's voice, image, likeness or confidential information?
- Are collaborator roles and ownership expectations written down?
- Are important facts or quotations traceable?
- Could the public misunderstand what AI did?
- Have platform terms or disclosure requirements changed since the material was created?
- Does any issue require a lawyer or another qualified professional?
11. Advanced AI prompt sequence
Prompt 1 — Evidence classification
Classify only the records I provide by project stage, contribution type and evidence grade. Do not infer missing authorship, dates or ownership.
Prompt 2 — Gap analysis
Compare my contribution claims with the evidence index. Identify unsupported, ambiguous and well-supported claims. Recommend records to preserve or wording to narrow.
Prompt 3 — Source and collaborator audit
Separate creator-owned material, AI-assisted material, collaborator material, licensed assets, public-domain claims and unresolved items. Do not decide legal status when the evidence is incomplete.
Prompt 4 — Transformation summary
Using the before-and-after examples, describe the documented human decisions and revisions without exaggerating their legal significance.
12. Complete the VIP Human Contribution Evidence File
Primary contribution profile: ______
Secondary profile: ______
Project contribution statement: ______
Stage-by-stage matrix completed: Yes / No
Evidence index location: ______
Grade A evidence: ______
Grade B evidence: ______
Timeline location: ______
AI tool log location: ______
Source and collaborator register: ______
Transformation examples: ______
Approved public contribution wording: ______
Material requiring replacement or permission: ______
Professional advice required: ______
Decision: Proceed / Repair Record / Replace Material / Seek Advice / Hold
Reason: ______
Next evidence action: ______
Decision rules
- Proceed: Important claims, sources, collaborators and evidence are sufficiently aligned for the next production phase.
- Repair Record: The contribution likely occurred, but important records are missing or disorganized.
- Replace Material: A source, asset or generated component creates avoidable uncertainty.
- Seek Advice: A material legal, contractual, privacy or platform question exceeds this training.
- Hold: Publication should pause until a serious gap is resolved.
