Creatorverse Story World · Enter Oz
Oz is the first Creatorverse Story World: a place to study public-domain inheritance, adaptation boundaries, creator rights, Robert Evans’s continuing Oz work, and the practical craft of building something new from an old world.
The rule that keeps this world clear: L. Frank Baum’s public-domain source material, later protected adaptations, and a modern creator’s original additions are not one interchangeable pool.
The fastest way to get lost in Oz is to treat every famous detail as if it came from the same source.

Question: What does the source itself contain?
Later creators added dialogue, visual choices, music, characterization, staging and branding of their own. Famous does not mean free.
Question: Did this detail come from Baum—or from somebody else’s adaptation?
A modern creator can build from a lawful foundation while adding new characters, scenes, themes, designs, music and structure that are genuinely their own.
Question: What did you add, and can you document it?
The foundational Oz training already exists. Enter Oz organizes it instead of rewriting it.
This is the main source-discipline article: book versus film versus modern retelling, derivative-work risk, visual separation, AI prompting, and the five-layer Public Domain Integrity Framework.
The broader Second Edition Author System uses Oz to show why a public-domain source is only the first step. Rights, old artwork, AI inputs, publishing records and new expression still need discipline.
Creator Rights extends the lesson beyond Oz into documentation, human contribution, licensing, permissions and ownership records.
Robert’s work belongs in Creatorverse because it shows what happens when an inherited world becomes the starting point for decades of original creative development.
The Creator Spotlight review maps Robert’s titles and formats, explains how the opening grew into a larger manuscript and screenplay, and keeps Robert’s work distinct from Baum’s original canon and unrelated Oz adaptations.
The wider profile connects his Oz writing, later-life acting, music experiments and current creative development.
Robert’s other Creator Spotlights cover songwriting, acting later in life, and his own reflections on life and belief. They are part of his creator story without being forced into the Oz canon.
Creatorverse can study and support Robert’s writing without presenting his additions as Baum canon, public-domain source material, or a license for other creators to copy his expression.
Public domain solves one rights question. A real project usually creates several more.
If a book already exists, do not assume the writer owns every illustration, source file or publishing right. Do not feed credited artwork into AI simply because you have a copy of the book.
Record the source, identify excluded later-adaptation material, confirm permissions, track human decisions and save versions. That record matters more as a project moves toward publication or commercial release.
You do not need a new article for every step. The existing work already creates a practical sequence.
Oz is the case study. The creator skill should travel with you into any inherited or original world.
Develop the writing, narrative choices and point of view that make the new work yours.
Track what you inherited, what you licensed, what AI contributed and what you actually authored or directed.
Oz is only the first Story World. Return to technology, culture, power, books, rights and the next worlds being developed.
