7 Days, One Proof Record: a black-and-gold guide to assembling seven parts of an AI music creation and rights evidence folder.

Build Your AI Music Rights and Proof Record in 7 Days

MILESTONE 5 · FREE EXECUTION PATH · REVIEWED OCTOBER 21, 2026

7 Days. One Song. One Evidence Record.

Work on one selected lead song. Each day adds to one evidence record. By Day 7, the final master, creative sources, human work, collaborators, credits, disclosure and intended-use questions should connect in an organized folder. A record can document what happened; it cannot automatically certify copyright, ownership, sample clearance or distributor acceptance.

Before Day 1

Bring your Milestone 4 lead candidate, current approved audio, lyrics, artwork, prompts or directions, sources, collaborator information, metadata, known rights questions and intended use. Use the same song ID, artist name, title, version, date and record revision on every output. This method works whether you used Suno, Musicfy, a DAW, your own performances or another authorized creative workflow. Seven days is a suggested learning sequence, not a mandatory legal-clearance deadline.

Set up the seven-day evidence folder

Use the same song ID across all files. An ordinary local folder, paper notes or the free Creator Tracker is enough; you do not need a new subscription.

Example index row: Evidence ID / track version / source or contributor / file or link / recorded date / permission or restriction / location / confirmed, estimated or unresolved / next action. Preserve original files; share only redacted evidence when privacy or client confidentiality requires it.

Day 1 — Identify

Establish the project, authoritative version and intended use

Rights decisions cannot be made for an undefined song, changing version or vague future purpose.

Record: artist, approved and working titles, parent song ID, authoritative filename, location, duration, format, creation date, selection date and release status. Keep an unedited copy of the selected master. An optional SHA-256 checksum helps later identify a changed file; it is not proof of authorship.

Choose the intended uses: private portfolio, streaming, social, YouTube, monetization, digital or physical sale, Shopify, podcast, live performance, client work, advertising, sync, game, remix, licensing or training example.

List every component requiring evidence: composition, lyrics, vocals, instrumental, uploads, samples, collaborators, artwork, typography, video, metadata and disclosure.

Output: Project Evidence Inventory

Component · current version · creator/source · evidence available · evidence location · missing evidence · status · intended use.

Decision: defined and ready, missing authoritative version, missing essential files, or return to Milestone 4.

Day 2 — Reconstruct

Build the Creation and Version Timeline

Map the project from original idea through lyric drafts, prompt drafts, generations, uploads, selections, extensions, remasters, stem work, collaborator additions, artwork, metadata and master approval.

Use platform dates, filenames, document history, cloud timestamps, messages, email, screenshots, DAW sessions, export dates and receipts. Note the evidence location and retrieval date for later checking. Classify each entry as confirmed, strongly supported, reconstructed, estimated or unknown.

Output: Creation and Version Timeline

Date · event · version · person/tool · evidence · confidence · effect on final release.

When a date cannot be confirmed, mark it estimated and explain the basis. Never invent precision.

Day 3 — Document

Build the Human Contribution Record

Document actual human work without exaggeration. Cover concept, story, message, audience, original or revised lyrics, pronunciation, translation, prompt design, structure, instrumentation, arrangement, vocal direction, version selection, rejected outputs, extensions, DAW or stem edits, mixing, mastering, artwork direction, metadata, disclosure and final approval.

For every claimed contribution, record the action, date, supporting file, version affected and result.

Output: Human Contribution Record

Contribution area · human action · evidence · version · importance · confidence · notes.

Use the active Free AI Music Creator Tracker and review the Human + AI Music workflow.

Do not turn contribution evidence into automatic claims of total authorship, sole ownership, originality or legal protection. The U.S. Copyright Office distinguishes human expressive contribution from prompts alone; Canada has its own legal framework and unresolved AI questions. See the primary sources below.

Day 4 — Trace

Build the Source and Asset Register

Register every external or separately created element that appears in the final package: uploads, samples, loops, stems, field recordings, collaborator performances, quotations, translations, AI images, photos, stock, fonts, textures, templates, logos, voice material and platform project records.

Output: Source and Asset Register

Asset ID · type · exact file/URL · source · creator/rights holder · date acquired · licence/permission · final-version presence · evidence location · attribution · restrictions · unresolved concern.

The key question is not only what entered the project, but what survived into the approved version. Record generated vocals, your own recorded voice, authorized third-party voices, external samples and extracted stems separately.

Day 5 — Confirm

Document permissions, collaborators, credits and public claims

For each external asset, record the permission type, licence, rights holder, date, commercial use, modification and redistribution rights, attribution, territory, duration, expiry, prohibited use and stored evidence.

For each collaborator, record legal/professional name, public credit, role, files supplied, fee, payment, split, ownership position, permitted uses, confirmation date and agreement location.

Review public phrases such as “written by,” “produced by,” “composed by,” “performed by,” “original,” “fully human-made,” “AI-assisted,” “exclusive,” “cleared” and “licensed.” Classify each as supported, partly supported, unsupported, requires qualification or should not be used.

Outputs

Permission and Licence Record
Credit and Collaboration Record
Public Claim Review

A missing essential permission, contributor dispute or unsupported major claim keeps the relevant release use on hold. Recording a gap does not resolve it. Store private agreements and contact information in a controlled-access location.

Worked example: one song, two creation routes

Imagine an original track, Evening Signal. The creator wrote its lyrics and selected the final audio. The question is what can be documented, not whether the entire output is legally owned.

Suno-generated route

Save original lyric drafts, creation dates, model and plan, generation/version links, selected exports, edits and the terms that applied at the time. Identify any final vocals and instruments generated by AI separately from human-created expressions.

Musicfy-assisted route

Save the licensed or self-recorded source vocal, any voice-model consent, Musicfy generation settings, model/engine and plan, final files, stems and human editing history. Preserve provenance for third-party sources.

Same rule for both: if a sample, voice, composition or collaborator contribution lacks necessary permission, mark HOLD — evidence or authorization needed regardless of the folder score.

Day 6 — Assess

Run the rights-risk and intended-use review

Review version traceability, human contribution, AI tool terms and account status, uploads, samples, lyrics, voice and likeness, collaborators, artwork, fonts, metadata, disclosure, ownership wording and the intended platform or commercial use.

If useful, mark each issue supported by evidence, needs confirmation, unresolved, restriction applies or not applicable. Optional low/moderate/high ratings are only internal triage, not findings of infringement or certificates of clearance.

Choose a next-action recommendation: private review, prepare for a specific distribution review, confirm documented restrictions, revise documentation, replace an element, obtain permission, hold, ask the platform or seek qualified legal advice. Final authorization must come from the responsible human rights holder and must fit the actual agreements and intended destination.

Output: Rights Risk and Intended-Use Matrix

Issue · evidence · risk · affected use · consequence · action · owner · deadline · decision.

Use the verified Free AI Music Creator Tracker and consult the Release Router.

Day 7 — Approve

Assemble the Working AI Music Rights and Proof Record

Combine the Project Evidence Inventory, Creation and Version Timeline, Human Contribution Record, Source and Asset Register, Permission and Licence Record, Credit and Collaboration Record, Public Claim Review and Rights Risk Matrix.

Attach the authoritative master, lyrics, artwork, metadata, disclosure, agreements, receipts, unresolved-issue register, approval date, review date and evidence-folder location.

50-point evidence-folder completeness check

  • Project and version traceability — 10
  • Human contribution evidence — 10
  • Source and permission clarity — 10
  • Credits, claims and disclosure — 10
  • Intended-use decision and organization — 10

This is a documentation-completeness exercise, not a legal approval score. There is no numeric passing grade for copyright, permission or distributor acceptance. Do not treat 35/50—or even 50/50—as a license to release. Any essential sample or collaborator permission gap, unresolved dispute, or unsupported major public claim still needs an explicit hold or further review.

Organize the free Label Edition Rights Record.

Copy this prompt into ChatGPT

Act as a cautious release-record auditor, not a lawyer. I will provide the creation history, lyrics, sources, AI tools, collaborators, artwork and intended use for one song. Separate confirmed evidence from memory and assumption. Build creation, permission, credit and release-file sections. Flag missing receipts, licences, consent, credits, version links and unsupported claims. Do not tell me the work is automatically protected, cleared or accepted. End with one evidence status: ready for human review for a specific intended use, more evidence required, replace an element, obtain permission, hold, or seek platform or qualified legal review. Do not present a score or AI answer as a certificate of ownership, copyright or commercial clearance.

Troubleshooting

Old prompts are missing

Record confirmed evidence, label the gap and preserve remaining files. Do not invent a complete history.

The final file is unclear

Return to Milestone 4 and establish version authority.

A receipt is missing

Attempt recovery and keep the asset unresolved until sufficient evidence exists.

A collaborator agreed verbally

Request written confirmation before important public or commercial use.

Platform terms changed

Record the terms relevant at creation and separately review current requirements for the intended use.

Why your record and copyright are different

The U.S. Copyright Office's January 2025 AI authorship report explains that human-authored expression can qualify for copyright in work containing AI material, whereas prompting alone does not automatically make a wholly generated output copyrightable.

Canada's 2025 What We Heard report summarizes stakeholder positions about AI and authorship; it does not itself change the law. Document contributions honestly and assess governing law and actual platform terms separately.

Completion statement

I built a dated evidence record explaining how the release was created, which sources and contributors were involved, which files are approved and what use is currently supported by the available evidence.
