Professional Listening & Final Edit Pass
WHERE YOU ARE: One exact version is now the lead candidate. Your job is not to make it endlessly “better.” Your job is to identify defects or decisions that still materially affect professional readiness.
YOU SHOULD ALREADY HAVE
Your Lead Version Record and the exact lead audio file.
THE DECISION
Does this recording require another meaningful edit, or are you now changing things because you are uncomfortable declaring it finished?
DO THE WORK
- Listen once for song impact only: opening, pacing, emotional arc, hook, ending.
- Listen for vocal presentation: intelligibility, tone, consistency, pronunciation, artifacts and distracting synthetic moments.
- Listen for production defects: clicks, pops, noise, abrupt edits, bad fades, pumping, harshness, masking or obvious generation artifacts.
- Check translation on at least headphones and another ordinary playback system.
- Compare against a relevant professional reference for balance and impact, not imitation.
- Create a short repair list containing only issues that materially improve the release candidate.
- Make the repairs, then repeat the complete listen. Stop when the remaining differences are preference rather than defects.

SAVE THIS
Save a Final Edit Record: date, version, defects found, repairs made, playback systems checked, reference used and the decision to advance.
DO NOT ADVANCE IF
- An obvious artifact, bad transition, distracting vocal defect or broken ending remains.
- You have not listened to the repaired file all the way through.
- You cannot tell which repaired export is current.
READY TO CONTINUE WHEN
You can play the exact candidate from beginning to end without identifying a remaining issue that justifies reopening the edit.
