Fix One Bad Section Without Regenerating the Whole Song
If 90% of the song works, do not automatically throw away 90% of the song because one verse, chorus or bridge failed.
First diagnose the failure
Before editing audio, decide what is actually wrong.
- Lyric problem: wrong idea, weak line, crowded syllables, forced rhyme, bad stress or section structure.
- Performance problem: the words are good but the delivery, timing or vocal interpretation fails.
- Production problem: instrumentation, dynamics or musical direction makes the section feel wrong.
- Transition problem: the section works alone but does not enter or exit naturally.
If the words are wrong, fix the words first
Current Melody Genie guidance explicitly recommends correcting lyric, syllable count and stress before revising the matching audio section. That prevents you from asking the music model to perform a line that is structurally broken.
Select the real section window by ear
Section tags help estimate where a verse or chorus occurs, but the musical transition may begin before the first word or continue after the final line. Audition the start and end boundaries so the edit has enough context to connect naturally.
Keep the source version
Melody Genie’s current section editor is non-destructive: the source remains intact and the revision becomes a separate version. Use that deliberately. Label or document what changed so you can compare rather than relying on memory.
Compare more than the edited section
Listen to at least one section before and one section after the edit. A replacement chorus may sound stronger by itself and still create a worse transition into verse two.
A controlled comparison
- Write down the single failure you are solving.
- Correct the lyric first if needed.
- Set the audio window.
- Create one revision.
- Compare source vs revision at the same listening level.
- Judge the transition in and out.
- Keep the better version or run one targeted second revision.
When a full restyle or regeneration is justified
Use a broader change when the failure is not local: the entire music direction is wrong, the vocal character contradicts the song, the arrangement never creates the intended arc, or multiple sections fail for the same systemic reason. Local editing is not a religion; it is a way to avoid waste when most of the result already works.
