AI Music Awards you can still enter before 2027: official deadline checklist in black and gold

AI Music Awards You Can Still Enter Before 2027: Deadlines, Eligibility & Submission Checklist

AI Music Awards Intelligence · Jack Righteous · 2026 entry deadlines

Missed the first 2026 AI Music Awards nominations? You still have options. The difference between a useful entry and wasted time is knowing what is genuinely open, what category fits your music, and which rights, audio files and disclosure materials you must prepare.

Deadlines to remember: NEXT SOUND closes December 1, 2026 at 23:59 UTC. AIMEE closes December 31, 2026 at 11:59 pm Pacific Time. These are different award programs and time zones. Always recheck the organizer's site before submitting.

Two opportunities still worth checking

Program When it closes How to enter Best fit
NEXT SOUND Awards 2026 December 1, 2026, 23:59 UTC MP3 single or 8–16-track LP. First eligible single is free; additional paid options. Independent AI-assisted artists with complete, polished music in Pop, Electronic, Cinematic or Experimental.
2026–2027 AIMEE Awards December 31, 2026, 11:59 pm PT Enter an approved public work link, complete AI disclosure and accurate credits. Rules list a $10 USD fee per competitive entry, unless waived. Artists, producers, educators, researchers, AI-craft specialists and responsibly directed human–AI projects.

Not open for new 2026 entries: SIQA's AI Music Awards have closed nominations; the 2026 AI Song Contest entry period and Sound & Screen first-season submissions have also closed. The award ceremony date alone does not mean a new application window exists. Verify each event’s status and application window through the official organizer before making a submission.

NEXT SOUND: a simple first music entry

The NEXT SOUND Awards offer ten prizes of $1,000 USD each across four single categories, four LP categories and overall Single and LP honors. Eligible works use AI meaningfully in music creation or production; AI used only for artwork or administration is insufficient. The contest does not favor a specific AI brand or a higher AI percentage.

Before submitting a single

  • Check you are 18 or older and legally eligible to enter and receive a prize where you live.
  • Choose one of Pop, Electronic, Cinematic or Experimental and explain why it is the right lane.
  • Export one playable MP3 and confirm the title, creator credits and recording are final.
  • State each AI tool used and what it contributed to the music.
  • Make sure you control or have permission for the song, recording, lyrics, voices, samples and cover artwork.
  • Understand the organizer's limited five-year worldwide promotional licence before accepting.

The judging model is 80% jury score and 20% adjusted audience rating, with rules against vote manipulation. One eligible standalone single can be entered without a paid pass; other entry formats have their own terms. See the official NEXT SOUND rules and the entry website.

AIMEE: more than a song competition

The Academy of AI Music's 2026–2027 awards span 108 awards in eight fields. Its calendar states that eligible work must have first been released, published or made publicly available from January 1 to December 31, 2026, and its rules require accurate AI disclosure and the necessary rights and consent. Unlike a contest focused only on finished tracks, AIMEE includes education, craft, AI innovation and responsible-creation recognition.

For music creators

The genre award fields include Reggae & Caribbean, Gospel & Christian, Hip-Hop / Rap, R&B / Soul, Pop, Classical and other formats. Depending on the award, the judges may be considering songwriting, a finished performance or an album. Do not assume one category is a perfect match for every hybrid sound.

For producers and technical creators

AIMEE lists Best Production, Engineering & Mixing, Arrangement, Remix / Reimagining, AI Vocal Synthesis, Prompt Craft & Generative Direction, and music-video awards. A finished music file may not tell the entire story; describe what you contributed and which AI tools performed which functions.

For educators and music schools

The education categories include AI Music Educator of the Year, Best AI Music Curriculum or Program, Best Educational Resource, Course or Tutorial, Outstanding Institutional Program and Community Education & Outreach. A creator with a documented 2026 educational initiative may have a category worth reviewing. Eligibility is not automatic: the curriculum or project must meet the program's published requirements, and any submission on behalf of a school or partners needs the proper authorization and accurate credits.

What about a fully generated Suno track?

You may be eligible for some AI-native music categories, but you must read each organization's category rules. AIMEE's Autonomous / Generative Work field is a special case: awards there go to the generative-music company, not the individual prompter. Other AIMEE categories assess the AI contribution to the specific craft being honored. NEXT SOUND accepts music with a genuine AI contribution regardless of brand, assuming entry rights and other rules are satisfied.

Suno commercial-use rights and copyright status are separate. Its September 2026 guidance addresses songs downloaded on qualifying paid plans, while a later subscription does not automatically fix free-tier tracks. Review our Suno awards eligibility checklist before submitting.

Your submission packet: copy this checklist

Song and identity: final title, artist name, genre, release date, original audio file and preferred artist profile URL.

AI contribution: tool names, models or versions where known, what AI created, what you wrote or edited, and how you selected and finished the work.

Rights and consent: original lyrics, sample and cover permissions, collaborator agreements, voice consent, artwork rights and any relevant platform download evidence.

Entry information: official category, permitted format, deadline and time zone, entry fee or free-entry allowance, country eligibility and organizer's promotional rights.

Confirmation: save your accepted terms, receipt if applicable, submission ID, confirmation message and public track link.

Submission timeline: what to do next

  1. Pick the program before the song. A production-intensive experimental recording and a Gospel / Christian composition may be stronger candidates for different programs or categories.
  2. Listen and compare. Read what AI music award judges look for and assess songwriting, identity, production, honest process documentation and category fit.
  3. Review rights before payment. See who owns your music when you enter an AI music competition.
  4. Prepare disclosures in plain English. Say exactly which contributions were human and which were AI-generated or AI-assisted.
  5. Submit early enough to recover from upload problems. Verify that the final link or file is playable and the confirmation was actually received.
  6. Plan the audience follow-through. Keep your public artist credits, best track link and a concise creator story ready. Winning is not required to improve your portfolio.

Frequently asked questions

Can I enter the same song in both awards?

Possibly, provided your entry meets each program's separate rules and existing rights agreements do not conflict. Some category or duplicate-entry restrictions may apply; check the accepted terms before submitting the same version.

Is the first NEXT SOUND entry really free?

The rules state that the first eligible standalone Single is free. LPs and additional entries have separate pass options, and eligibility criteria still apply.

Can a music educator submit a training program?

AIMEE includes categories for AI music curricula, educators, courses and institutions. Check the official eligibility window, evidence requirements, permissions and authority to apply on behalf of any institution.

Is a Spotify release required?

No blanket Spotify rule applies across both programs. NEXT SOUND requests MP3 uploads; AIMEE requires an entry link on an approved public platform. Follow the entry portal's current accepted-platform list rather than assuming a particular distributor is mandatory.

Will an award automatically bring listeners?

No. Treat awards as one potential source of recognition, not a substitute for strong music, a coherent artist identity and meaningful listener relationships.
