New Suno Update: Crop Songs Feature and How It Helps Save Time and Clips
On September 24, 2024, Suno introduced a game-changing update for Pro and Premier users—the Crop Songs feature. This new tool allows users to keep only the specific portion of a song they need, removing the rest. This feature is especially helpful for those working within Suno's DAW, as it significantly enhances workflow efficiency by saving selected song portions directly without needing to export or manually trim files in an external program.
How the Crop Songs Feature Works:
- Access Your Song: Start by finding a song you’ve created, either from your Library or directly in the "Create" section.
- Initiate Cropping: Right-click on the song or go into the More Actions menu, hover over "Edit," and click “Crop Song.”
- Select Desired Portion: Use the pink waveform selectors to define the start and end points of the section you want to keep.
- Finalize Crop: After setting your selection, click “Crop Song.” A new version of the song will be added to both your Create workspace and your Library.
The Crop Songs feature is currently available only on desktop, but Suno is working on extending this functionality to tablet-web and mobile-web.
Why This Update Matters:
For creators like myself, who often need to save multiple clips or portions of individual songs, the ability to crop within Suno itself is a massive productivity boost. Instead of exporting entire tracks, I can now quickly extract specific parts of a song, keep them in my Library, and continue editing or using those clips without having to involve third-party software. It makes audio management more efficient, allowing me to keep my projects organized and streamlined within the Suno DAW.
Also New: Edit Displayed Lyrics
Another key part of this update is the ability to edit displayed lyrics directly within the "Edit" > "Song Details" section. This feature adds more control over the final presentation of songs, making it easier to adjust lyrics without having to go back into the original track editor.
In Summary: This Suno update will streamline song editing workflows, making it quicker and easier to manage specific sections of your tracks. For creators who frequently need to save clips or fine-tune portions of their work, this new feature represents a significant time-saver and enhances overall productivity.
