Build a Reusable Voice Foundation for AI Writing

Build a Reusable Voice Foundation for AI Writing

AI Writing Assistance · Find Your Voice · Public Lesson 9

This public lesson gives you something useful to do now, then points you to the deeper Find Your Voice practice if it is included in your access.

Starting from zero every time wastes one of the biggest advantages of AI-assisted writing: reusable context.

The Jack Righteous approach

Save the writing decisions that should carry from project to project while leaving room for each piece to be different.

Use this workflow

  1. Record how you normally explain ideas.
  2. Save examples of phrasing and structure that feel natural.
  3. List language, tones and habits you consistently remove.
  4. Document the relationship you want with the reader.
  5. Keep project facts separate from stable voice rules.

Why this matters

AI is very good at producing language that looks finished. That makes it easy to skip the human decision that should have happened first. This step slows the process down just enough to keep the meaning, reader and purpose visible before the writing gets more polished.

A prompt you can actually use

Copy and adapt:

Help me build a reusable voice foundation from the writing samples and preferences I provide. Separate stable voice rules from project-specific instructions. Do not invent personality traits I have not demonstrated.

What a useful AI response should do

A useful response should make the decision easier to inspect. It should surface options, gaps, contradictions or patterns without quietly converting them into a final answer. You should still be able to see where your judgment enters the process.

Your five-minute exercise

My normal level of directness is: ______________________________

The reader relationship I want is: ______________________________

Words or habits I avoid are: ______________________________

One example that sounds like me is: ______________________________

What the human still decides

AI can help you organize, compare, question and revise. It cannot decide what you truly mean, what deserves emphasis, what is accurate enough to publish, or which version you are willing to stand behind. Keep those decisions with you.
