BandLab Distribution can send singles, EPs and albums to more than 20 streaming and social platforms—but the upload button is not the main decision. The real decision is whether you want your catalogue tied to an active BandLab Membership, how the revenue split changes after cancellation, and whether BandLab’s production tools justify the ongoing subscription.
Jack’s direct answer: BandLab Distribution is strongest for creators who already want Pro for editing, mastering, Voice Cleaner, AutoMix or Opportunities. It is less compelling when you already pay another distributor and would be subscribing only to upload music.

What BandLab Distribution includes
BandLab currently says paid Pro and Max members can distribute singles, EPs and albums to more than 20 digital service providers, including major streaming, download and social platforms. The service includes unlimited UPCs and ISRCs at no separate charge, release-date scheduling, status tracking, earnings reporting and payout management.

Is BandLab Distribution free?
No. BandLab is free to use, but Distribution requires a purchased monthly or annual Membership. A trial can be used to prepare a draft, but BandLab says you must purchase Membership before submitting.

Distribution alone is not a strong reason to buy Max. Pro includes the distribution access most creators need.
What happens to royalties and releases when you cancel?
This is the most important condition to understand before building a catalogue through BandLab.
- While Membership is active, BandLab says you receive 100% of the earnings it receives for your distributed releases.
- After the paid cycle ends, BandLab currently says your share changes to 80%.
- BandLab also says an active Membership is required to keep releases live.
- If Membership remains inactive, the releases can eventually be removed from streaming platforms.
Do not treat BandLab Distribution as a one-time upload purchase. Your long-term catalogue plan must include either continuing Membership or moving the catalogue properly before the releases are removed.
BandLab’s refund policy also says rejected distribution submissions and unused Membership services are not ordinary grounds for a refund. Cancel at least 24 hours before renewal when you do not intend to continue.

Can you distribute Suno or other AI-assisted music through BandLab?
Potentially—but the real test is rights, not the presence of AI. You must be able to support the commercial use of the generated audio and every additional element in the release.
Keep a release proof folder

- Original share link and exported audio
- Lyrics, prompts and version notes
- Uploaded-audio ownership or permission
- Human contributor approvals and credits
- Voice, likeness and performance consent
- Sample, loop and Beat licences
- Cover-art source and commercial rights
- Final master and release metadata
Do not distribute copied protected lyrics or melodies, unauthorized voice imitations, uncleared samples, unlicensed artwork or audio used outside the source platform’s commercial terms.
BandLab says copyright infringement, fraudulent streaming and related policy violations can trigger immediate takedown and forfeiture of associated earnings. A distributor accepting an upload is not proof that you own everything in it.

What to prepare before opening the form
- Final approved WAV master and backup export
- Exact primary artist name
- Release and track titles
- Public contributors and their roles
- Legal composer and lyricist names where required
- Explicit-content decisions
- Original square artwork
- Rights and permission records
- Release date and promotion calendar
- Verified BandLab email
- Completed payout profile
The distribution form should record decisions already made. It should not be where you invent the artist identity, guess contributor roles or decide whether the song is ready.
Metadata and artwork rules that prevent avoidable rejection
No emojis in distribution fields
BandLab’s current submission guidance prohibits emojis in the distribution form.
Keep titles clean
Use only the official title. Put featured artists in Contributors and alternate designations such as Acoustic, Live, Instrumental, Remastered or Radio Edit in the Version field.
Use accurate contributor records
Enter songwriter, performer, producer, mixing and mastering information accurately. Legal names may be required for composer and lyricist records even when the artist performs under a stage name.
Mark explicit content honestly
A false clean designation can delay or jeopardize the release.
Artwork requirements
BandLab recommends original square JPG or PNG artwork at least 1400 × 1400 pixels and no larger than 10 MB. Avoid streaming logos, URLs, handles, prices, “out now” copy, blurry images, cut-off text and reused generic art.
Thumbnail test: Reduce the cover to phone size. The main visual and any necessary title should still be clear immediately.
Release timing, analytics and payouts
BandLab currently describes an ASAP release window of roughly five to seven business days. For a specific release date, submit at least 14 days ahead. Leave more room when pitching, coordinating collaborators or building a launch campaign.
After submission, BandLab says the release status is usually updated within two business days. Store links appear in Release Details when the release becomes available.
Earnings are delayed
BandLab’s My Earnings FAQ says payouts are processed in the second half of each month and normally trail activity by about three months. For example, January earnings are generally paid in April. The dashboard updates after DSP reports are received and consolidated—not after every stream.
Streams are not the same as monetized plays
Distribution analytics may include activity from user-generated-content platforms. Views or uses can make the activity total look higher without every event producing revenue.
