THE DECISION

What exact information should every distributor, platform, collaborator and future version of you use to identify this release?

DO THE WORK

  1. Lock exact artist name, track title and any legitimate version designation.
  2. Identify primary artist, featured artist, remixer or other release roles only when those roles actually apply.
  3. Record songwriter, composer, lyricist, producer, performer, engineer/mix/master and other supported human credits that apply to the work.
  4. Record accurate language, explicit-content status and closest truthful genre/classification choices for later distributor entry.
  5. Save existing artist-profile URLs/IDs if this artist already has profiles that must receive the release.
  6. Record any existing catalog identifiers that must be preserved. If an ISRC has already been assigned to this unchanged recording, preserve it; do not casually create a duplicate.
  7. Cross-check every contributor/role against the Phase 1 contribution and rights records.
  8. Resolve spelling, split, role or credit disagreements before upload—not after the release is distributed.
Metadata is not ownership. A correct credit field does not clear a sample, settle a split or create rights. The metadata record must agree with the rights record; it cannot replace it.
