Top 10 Canadian Cities to Test for Uber Eats in 2026
A practical Canada-wide shortlist built around market size, density, growth, restaurant demand potential and delivery practicality—not a promise that one city will pay a specific hourly rate.
First: there is no reliable public “highest-paying Uber Eats city” leaderboard.
Uber does not publish a current Canadian city-by-city table of courier earnings that would let us honestly say Toronto pays X and Calgary pays Y. So this list uses observable factors instead: size of the urban customer base, density, recent growth, restaurant concentration, delivery coverage and the practical cost of moving through the city.
How I built the list
Statistics Canada says Canada's census metropolitan areas held more than 31 million people by July 2025. Toronto, Montréal and Vancouver remain the three largest markets, while Calgary and Edmonton were among the fastest-growing major CMAs in the latest annual estimates. Uber's own Canadian delivery directory confirms active delivery coverage across the markets included here.

Canada's largest urban market gives you the broadest pool of restaurants and customers. Dense downtown neighbourhoods can work well for short delivery distances, while traffic, parking and vehicle costs can punish poor route choices.

A very large, dense restaurant city with strong neighbourhood demand and bike-friendly areas. Winter, construction and parking can radically change the economics, so the neighbourhood and transportation method matter.

The city matters less than the zone you choose
Even inside a strong market, one neighbourhood can be very different from another. Restaurant density, apartment concentration, parking, road design, traffic, weather and average delivery distance can change your result. A downtown bike courier and a suburban car courier in the same city can have completely different economics.
The right test is not “What does somebody on social media say they make?” It is: what do I keep after time, kilometres, fuel or charging, maintenance, parking and tax?
Use a 25-delivery test before deciding
I would treat the first 25 deliveries as data collection. Track total payout, tips, hours, distance, direct costs, restaurant wait time and dead time between orders. Then compare markets or zones using your own numbers rather than gross screenshots.
