Localized repair is a control problem, not a regeneration problem. If one region is failing and the rest of the song works, protect the stable source, define the smallest useful replacement boundary, change one local objective, and verify that the repair did not damage the song around it.
1. Free entry gate: prove the problem is local
You do not need paid training to complete this lesson. Start with one stable song version and one problem that can reasonably be isolated to a defined region.
2. Define the replacement boundary
The selected range is part of the creative decision. Too narrow and the new audio may not have enough context to transition cleanly. Too wide and you expose working material to unnecessary change.
3. Replace one objective—not the whole creative brief
Lyric / phrasing repair
Change wording, syllable density, stress or delivery while protecting the song’s established identity.
Performance repair
Correct a local vocal or instrumental behavior while preserving surrounding timing, character and arrangement.
Transition / section repair
Repair one entrance, exit, fill, turnaround or localized arrangement problem without reopening unrelated sections.
4. Current Suno Replace Section implementation
The principle above transfers to any editor that can regenerate or replace a selected region. In Suno, the current documented flow is to enter the edit/Replace Section workflow, select the region, revise lyrics or guidance when needed, generate local alternatives, audition the options, and then create the updated whole-song version. Suno currently documents Replace Section for Pro and Premier subscribers; product access and labels can change.
- Open the song from Create or Library and enter More Actions → Edit → Replace Section.
- Select the region on the waveform/timeline. Review the highlighted lyrics if lyrics are involved.
- Modify only the instruction or lyrics needed for the local objective.
- Generate replacement candidates and audition them inside the surrounding song context.
- If a candidate is close but the seam is weak, adjust the replacement boundary/transition rather than immediately widening the creative request.
- Commit/create the whole-song result only after the local symptom and both seams have been checked.
5. Generate a small candidate set
Do not generate indefinitely. Produce enough alternatives to test the hypothesis, then compare the local results in context.
6. Spillover and seam check
Listen before, through and after the replaced region. A better line is not a successful repair if it damages the entrance, exit or song identity around it.

If the song does not need an existing region replaced but instead needs a new continuation, ending, verse, instrumental passage or additional length, that is a different control problem. #49 owns extension while preserving continuity and song identity.

I tried to use the section replacement mode in Suno v5 to correct the accents in some words (non-English) that Suno had distorted despite the explicitly defined markers. Unfortunately, the result did not meet my expectations, so I’d like to share my experience.
1) I needed to replace 3 short fragments in the text at different locations. That is, I performed 3 replacements sequentially and saved 3 versions of the full song.
2) If I tried to change long fragments (as recommended, from 10 to 30 seconds), Suno changed the melody also (ignoring my instruction to strictly follow the text and melody).
3) Therefore, I decided to change fragments of 2-3 words (about 2 seconds in length). In this case, Suno generated new blocks of 30-40 seconds and saved them in the workspace.
4) After confirming the replacement of blocks and saving the new song versions in a chain, I noticed that the quality of the mix was getting worse. There was a lot of hissing and other artifacts, as if two versions of the section were playing simultaneously, with the new version overriding the old one. The quality of the first replacement was slightly affected, but the second and third ones were noticeably worse. Suno suggests using the Remaster (PRO) mode to fix this, but even this mode does not restore the quality of the original mix.
5) I noticed that Suno saves each version of the section replacement as a separate file in the workspace. I wanted to try changing the order of the replacements, but I couldn’t find a way to do it. Suno doesn’t allow you to use previously generated blocks in the section replacement mode. It only offers to generate new ones.
6) Based on the above, it seems that the only way to perform a correct section replacement without compromising the quality of the track is through an external audio editor.
This is certainly frustrating. Maybe there’s another way but I didn’t find it.

Hi Gary, I have used the Replace function to fix lyrics. But what if Suno is not getting the correct chord progression from the scratch trac I upload? I have a suno take that I love, but I just need this one chord to change (minor to major so it’s a pretty noticeable change). Is there a way fix that chord?
