Udio Audio Upload Workflow: Use Authorized Source Audio for Extend, Remix, Style & Sessions
Current Udio help says paid subscribers can upload their own audio and use it with workflows including Extend, Inpaint/Edit, Sessions, Remix and Style. The important rule is simple: being able to upload a file does not give you rights to that file.
Good source candidates
- Your own instrumental sketch
- Your own recorded melody or riff
- A demo created under terms that allow this use
- A collaborator's recording with explicit permission
- Audio for which you control the necessary rights
Do not upload
- A commercial song you do not own
- A vocal performance you do not have permission to process
- A copyrighted instrumental copied from another creator
- A file whose license does not permit generative/derivative use
Choose the job
Extend: continue before or after the authorized source. Remix: explore a variation while retaining recognizable relationship to the source. Style: use the source as musical direction. Sessions/Edit: develop or repair the source-derived project more locally.
Source record
- Save the original file outside Udio.
- Record who created/performed it.
- Save license/permission evidence.
- Record the date uploaded.
- Note which Udio workflow used it.
- Keep the Udio URL/revision tree for the resulting work.
Current release limitation
Because new downloads are disabled during Udio's transition, an upload-guided result can currently be developed and shared inside Udio but should not be presented as a guaranteed external production/export workflow.
