Phase 0 Setup + naming Phase 1 Generate small set Phase 2 Pick winner + score Phase 3 Repair 1 weakness Phase 4 Polish + QC + lock Rule: you only repair one problem per cycle. That is how you finish. Phase 0: Setup (So You Don’t Lose Winners) Before you generate anything, set up a simple naming system. This prevents the “I had a great take but I can’t find it” problem. Your “Winner Rule” If you think “this could be the one,” it goes in Winners immediately — even if it has flaws. Phase 1: Generate (Small Set, Not Chaos) Your goal is not to generate “the perfect song.” Your goal is to generate candidates that you can finish. Batch Size Generate a small set, then stop. Keep Constraints Hold your core sound steady. Change 1 Thing Only one variable per test. Common mistake: 30 versions, no decision. A small set forces decision-making. Phase 2: Pick a Winner and Score It A “winner” is the best overall version — not a flawless version. You pick the best foundation and repair the weak part. Quick Scorecard Score each from 1–5. Pick the highest total as your winner. Hook / Chorus lift Score Transitions (clean vs messy) Score Vocal fit (or instrumental vibe) Score Ending (feels complete) Score You don’t need perfect scores. You need one clear winner to fix. Phase 3: Repair the Weakest Section (One Fix per Cycle) This is where most creators waste credits: they regenerate the whole track instead of repairing one section. Use the playbooks below. Choose the one that matches your problem. Playbook A: Weak Intro Shorten the intro (get to the idea faster). Ask for a clear “start point” (drums, motif, vocal entrance). If intro is great but chorus is not, do not touch intro again. Playbook B: Messy Transition Define the transition goal (lift, drop, calm, switch groove). Change one transition cue, not the whole prompt. Prefer repairs that preserve the parts that already work. Playbook C: Chorus Doesn’t Lift Increase contrast (bigger drums, wider harmony, higher energy). Make the chorus shorter but stronger. Don’t fix lyrics and mix at the same time. One target per pass. Playbook D: Bad Ending Decide the ending type: hard stop, fade out, final hit, calm resolve. Repair the last section only (don’t rebuild the song). If needed, use external tools for fade and cleanup. VIP rule: If the main hook is working, protect it. Fix the weakest section and keep the rest stable. Phase 4: Polish (So It Sounds Intentional) Polishing is simple: remove distractions. Your listener should not notice “the weird part.” Trim Cut dead time. Tighten intros and outros. Balance Make vocals/instruments feel “sitting in the track.” Export Save a clean release candidate. Quality Control Checklist (Release Candidate Test) Run this before you call anything “done.” Check Pass looks like If it fails Intro starts clean No dead air, no confusing start Repair intro only (Phase 3) Chorus feels like a lift Energy/contrast is obvious Repair chorus (Phase 3) Transitions are not jarring Flow feels intentional Repair transition (Phase 3) Ending feels complete No awkward cut-off Repair ending or fade No “one weird part” Listener stays inside the song Repair the one section only If you pass most checks, you don’t restart. You repair the single worst failure and retest. Stop Conditions (How You Avoid Credit Waste) These are the rules that keep you moving forward. Stop generating when you have one clear winner with one clear flaw. Stop repairing when the song is “good enough” to represent your catalog. Stop tweaking when improvements become tiny and inconsistent. Stop doubting when your QC checklist passes and your hook works.
