The Story Behind Jack Righteous | Gary Whittaker, AI Music & Creator Journey

The story behind the name

Why I built Jack Righteous

I am Gary Whittaker. Jack Righteous is the creative identity I use for my own AI-assisted music, writing, publishing and creator-development work.

01
Origin

The name came before the ecosystem.

Create What You Love | Love What You Create.

“Jack” was my golden retriever and companion for thirteen years. The name carries that personal history, but Jack Righteous grew into something larger: a way to make music, write, publish, test emerging tools and build creative work around a consistent point of view.

02
Creation

AI made more creation possible. It also made judgment more important.

My work started from a practical question: once AI makes it easier to generate something, what still belongs to the creator?

For me, the answer became the work around the output: deciding what the project is for, choosing what deserves to survive, revising what does not work, documenting important decisions, preparing the release and deciding what should be built around the finished piece.

Proving ground

Music became the proving ground.

AI music is a major part of my work, including deep practical use of Suno alongside broader workflows for writing, voice, production, publishing, owned platforms, rights documentation and release planning.

Principle

The tools were never meant to become the identity.

The goal is not to make every creator follow the same software setup. The useful part is learning how to make clearer decisions for the project you are actually building.

03
Evolution

Jack Righteous became more than an artist name.

As the work expanded, the identity expanded with it. Music connected to writing. Writing connected to books, articles and creator education. Experiments became guides, tools and direct support. Individual projects started connecting into a larger creator ecosystem.

That is why Jack Righteous now has two distinct roles:

Role one

Creative identity

The name behind my music, writing, visual concepts and connected creative projects.

Role two

Creator ecosystem

JackRighteous.com is where I document useful workflows, publish creator education, test tools, research rights and platform changes, and support people who are building their own work.

04
Standard

What stayed consistent as the site changed

The site structure, tools and training have evolved. The standard has remained more stable: useful before promotional, practical before abstract, and creator judgment before blind automation.

I want creators to become more capable and independent—not more dependent on one platform, one prompt or one personality telling them what to do.

The output is only the beginning.

The creator still has to decide what the work means, what belongs in the final version and what happens next.
