Suno V4 Free Access (Archive): What Free Users Get in V6 Now
In February 2025, Suno making V4 free to try felt like a major access moment. This page preserves that release-day context—and then brings you forward to what “free Suno” actually means in September 2026.
The current answer first
V4 is historical. Suno's current generation is V6.
Today, v6-mini is available across all plans, including Free. The full v6 and v6-wild models are available to Pro and Premier subscribers.
Important: access to a free model does not automatically give you commercial-use rights. Suno currently treats songs made on the Free plan and free trial downloads as personal/non-commercial.
What free access means in V6
Free model
v6-mini is Suno's lighter, faster V6 option and is available to all users.
Creation
Free users can still create, listen and share inside Suno. Suno's current free-plan help also describes daily creation credits.
Downloads
Free accounts may receive up to 7 lifetime trial downloads under Suno's current download rules. Those trial downloads are personal/non-commercial.
The original February 2025 moment
When this article was first published, the headline was simple: “Suno V4 is free.” At that moment, the point was access. A model that had previously been associated with paid use had opened up to more creators, and the message was intentionally energetic: if you had an idea, you had fewer reasons not to test it.
That timing also lined up with the release of Judgment Fire!—a song built from anger, pressure and the need to turn emotion into something musical.
The creative idea behind the original post still holds: you do not need to wait until you feel like an industry professional before turning an idea into a song.
What changed since then
The model name changed. The plan structure changed. Download rules changed. Commercial-use rules became more important to understand.
The part worth keeping is the creative invitation. The part that must stay historical is the old claim that “V4 is free” and any 2025 referral-credit or pricing assumptions attached to that moment.
That is why this page now keeps the story while removing the possibility that someone lands here in 2026 and mistakes old V4 promotion for current Suno guidance.
Judgment Fire: the example that belonged to that moment
Judgment Fire! was the emotional anchor of the original article: anger, resistance and a desire to turn what was happening in the world into a track rather than leaving it as an idea.
That example still belongs here because it shows what free access was being used for—not because V4 is still the current free model.

If you are starting free today
1. Use v6-mini to test the idea
Treat the free tier as a place to test direction, lyrics, structure and whether the concept deserves more work.
2. Do not confuse testing with release rights
If your goal is monetization or distribution, understand the current plan and permitted-download requirements before you build your release around a free-plan generation.
3. Keep your human work
Save lyrics, drafts, arrangements, edits and other evidence of your own contribution. Commercial permission and copyright protection are separate issues.
The useful lesson did not expire
The old article asked: What is the song burning inside you?
I would still ask that.
What changed is the platform guidance around it. You can still start without turning the first experiment into a business decision. Make the idea. Learn what it is. Then decide whether the next version needs the paid rights path, a stronger human-production layer, stems, DAW work or a different tool entirely.
The creative door is still open. The rights decision simply deserves more attention than it did in a 2025 promotional post.

Thanks for your question.
Just to be clear—I don’t work for Suno or have any official connection to them. But based on my experience and feedback I’ve seen from other free users in forums:
Yes, Suno V4 access sometimes disappears for free accounts, especially when credit usage is low (like 20 credits remaining). It seems to happen when demand is high or when Suno is limiting V4 access to paid users.
Will it come back?
Possibly—but there’s no official answer. Some users have seen V4 return later, especially during updates or testing phases, while others stayed on V3 until they upgraded.
If you’re set on using V4, keep checking back or consider the paid tier if it’s an option. I’ll keep sharing what I find out through community feedback.
When I was at 20 credits, v4 suddenly disappeared. Will it come back or not?
Awesome
