Future Rave With Suno: Build the Energy, Not a Copy

This article preserves an early Jack Righteous Suno experiment while updating the old imitation-first framing. The prompt and sample tracks remain useful as a case study, but today I treat prompts as starting instructions—not guarantees—and references as material to analyze rather than recordings to copy.
Future Rave With Suno: Build the Energy, Not a Copy
Future Rave is built on contrast: dark atmosphere against festival-scale release, tension against impact, restrained vocal space against a drop that feels larger than what came before it.
When I first published this guide in February 2025, I used David Guetta and MORTEN—and their track You Can’t Change Me featuring RAYE—as a fast way to describe the lane I was exploring. That reference is still useful for listening and analysis. What I would not teach now is trying to reproduce the same recording, arrangement, or artist fingerprint.
The better creator question is: what makes the energy work, and which of those principles can you rebuild in your own musical language?
What Makes Future Rave Feel Like Future Rave?
There is no single required formula, but several traits often work together:
- Tempo with forward pressure: around 126–130 BPM is a useful working range for many tracks. The 128 BPM from my original experiment remains a strong test point, not a rule.
- Driving kick and bass: the low end needs a clear pulse and enough separation that the track feels forceful rather than muddy.
- Wide or detuned synth movement: tension often comes from unstable, spacious or aggressive synth textures rather than a bright pop lead alone.
- A darker opening space: intros and verses can hold back energy so the build has somewhere to go.
- An escalating build: percussion, risers, harmonic tension, vocal repetition and automation can increase expectation.
- A decisive drop: the release should feel structurally earned, not merely louder.
- Pumping movement: sidechain-style dynamics can create the breathing, dance-floor motion associated with this lane.
- Vocal contrast: a restrained, emotional verse can make a commanding chorus or hook hit harder.
The Original 2025 Prompt—and What Still Works
This was the style prompt I originally published:
Future Rave, Energetic and Uplifting, 128 BPM, Detuned Synth Leads, Driving Basslines, Dark Atmospheric Intro, Epic Build-Ups, Energetic Drops, Pulsating Sidechained Bass. Soulful Female.
I would still use many of those ingredients. What I would change is the expectation around them. No prompt “ensures” a Future Rave result. An AI music model interprets the instruction, and the output still has to be listened to, scored and either developed or rejected.
Here is what the original prompt was really doing:
- Future Rave establishes the broad production lane.
- 128 BPM suggests pacing and dance-floor momentum.
- Detuned synth leads ask for tension and width.
- Driving basslines + sidechain movement describe propulsion.
- Dark intro → build → drop gives the model an energy map.
- Soulful female assigns a vocal role and emotional contrast.
A Better Prompting Method Now
Instead of asking Suno to sound like one specific artist or recording, build the prompt around the job you need the track to do.
- Emotional target: dark, euphoric, confrontational, hopeful, hypnotic, urgent.
- Rhythm and pace: choose a useful BPM range and describe the groove.
- Sound palette: identify the bass, synth, percussion and atmospheric textures that matter.
- Energy map: describe where the song should hold back, build, release and reset.
- Vocal role: specify whether the voice should be intimate, commanding, airy, soulful, clipped or anthem-like.
- Your differentiator: add one meaningful decision that gives the track its own fingerprint.
Example:
Future rave / festival electronic, 128 BPM, dark spacious intro, tense detuned synth motif, tight four-on-the-floor kick, pumping sidechained bass, rising percussion and noise into a wide euphoric drop, soulful female lead with restrained verse and commanding chorus, brief halftime breakdown before the final lift. Keep the hook original and avoid imitating any specific recording.
The differentiator could be a dub-influenced bass texture, choir pad, halftime bridge, distorted vocal chop, unusual harmonic turn or another deliberate choice. The point is not to pile on adjectives. It is to give the model a clearer creative job.
The Original Lyrics Experiment
I am preserving the original AI-generated lyric draft because it shows what the experiment actually produced at the time:

In the original article I apologized for the lyrics because they were fully AI-generated. I would frame that differently now: an AI first draft is raw material. The creator’s job is to decide whether it deserves to survive.
Score lyrics for specificity, singability, hook strength, cliché load and point of view. If a line could belong to almost any festival track, that is a signal to rewrite it—not a reason to apologize for testing it.
Listen to the Two Original Suno Tests
These are preserved as early examples of the prompt-to-output process, not as a claim that the prompt is a fixed recipe for the genre.
Score the Output Before You Generate Again
One of the easiest ways to waste time with AI music is to keep generating before deciding what the current output actually taught you.
- Does the intro create real tension?
- Does the build make the drop feel earned?
- Can you hear the kick and bass as distinct jobs?
- Is the main hook memorable after one listen?
- Does the vocal have a clear role?
- Is there at least one decision that gives the track its own fingerprint?
- Are there artifacts, weak transitions or structural sections that need fixing?
A practical rule: after roughly three to five serious candidates, stop generating and make a decision. The exact number is not sacred. The point is to move from exploration into judgment before the project becomes a pile of versions.
How to Make the Track Yours
You do not need to change everything at once. Change one or two meaningful dimensions and listen to what happens:
- harmonic mood
- sound palette
- vocal narrative
- breakdown rhythm
- genre or cultural influence
- arrangement length
That gives you a controlled experiment. If you change ten variables in one prompt, you may get something different—but you will learn less about why it became different.
Use the Operator Sequence
INTENT → CREATE → SCORE → DECIDE → FIX → PACKAGE → PROTECT
- INTENT: define the emotional arc and the job of the track.
- CREATE: generate a bounded batch of genuinely different candidates.
- SCORE: judge tension, release, hook, vocal role, sound quality and originality.
- DECIDE: choose the one worth more time—or decide none of them are.
- FIX: edit the selected track in Suno, a DAW or another production environment rather than regenerating everything blindly.
- PACKAGE: keep prompt notes, versions, stems or bounces, lyric changes and final-file decisions organized.
- PROTECT: do not copy protected lyrics, melodies or recording-specific material, and document the references and creative decisions that shaped your work.
The Bigger Lesson
Future Rave is useful training because the genre makes energy architecture easy to hear. You can study how tension, space, bass, vocals and release interact—then apply those lessons without needing to clone the record that taught them to you.
That is the creator skill I care about more than any one prompt.
