The generator gave you a song. Now what?

This is one of the most important questions in AI music right now. Suno, Musicfy, Eleven Music and other generation tools can get you to audio quickly. But a generated result is not automatically a finished production.

You may want to change the arrangement, replace an instrument, record your own vocal, tighten a section, rebalance the mix, add a human performance or simply understand what is happening inside the track. That is where a DAW becomes useful.

Generate → Develop → Produce → Document → Release.

What changed in LUNA 3.0?

Universal Audio released LUNA 3.0 on September 15, 2026 for macOS and Windows. The company describes it as LUNA's largest update to date. The release divides the platform into LUNA Free and the paid LUNA Studio.

The headline for JR readers is not simply “AI features.” It is that tools which used to require bouncing between specialized services are moving directly into the production environment.

Why stem separation matters to an AI music creator

Suppose you generated a track that has the right emotional direction but the drums are wrong. Regenerating the entire song can destroy the parts you liked. Stem separation creates another option: separate the mixed audio into components and start working on the problem more selectively.

LUNA Free can separate a stereo recording into four stems. LUNA Studio expands that to six. Separation does not magically give you the pristine original multitracks that existed before a mix, and the quality will depend on the source. But it can create a practical bridge between a generated stereo file and hands-on production.

Audio-to-MIDI changes what “editing” can mean

LUNA Studio can convert an audio performance into MIDI. That matters because MIDI is editable performance information rather than fixed recorded audio. A creator can use it to layer or replace a part with a virtual instrument and then change notes, timing or sound choices.

For an AI creator trying to move from accepting a generated arrangement toward directing one, that is a meaningful step.

Lyric transcription and chord extraction

LUNA Studio's Moises-powered lyric transcription can place detected lyrics into a time-aligned browser. Chord Extraction analyzes polyphonic audio and maps detected harmony to LUNA's Chord Track.

These are useful analytical tools, but treat detected information as a starting point rather than unquestionable truth. Listen, verify and correct the session when necessary.

LUNA Play lowers the DAW barrier

Traditional DAWs can feel like a cockpit when somebody opens one for the first time. LUNA Play is Universal Audio's attempt to reduce that friction. It is designed more like a music-focused voice memo workflow: it can detect an instrument, set levels and suggest UAD plug-in presets so you can get into recording faster.

A first LUNA workflow for generated music

1. Choose the right generated version. Do not move every generation into production. Pick the version worth developing.
2. Save your original. Preserve the untouched file and your creation information before editing.
3. Import the audio into LUNA.
4. Separate stems only when it solves a problem. Do not separate merely because the button exists.
5. Identify one change. Replace a part, add a performance, change the arrangement or improve the mix.
6. Make deliberate human decisions. Keep track of meaningful writing, arranging, recording and editing work.
7. Export a new version and compare it with the original.
8. Document the version you intend to release.
