Blog, Email, Script or Post? Choose the Format Before AI Writes

The same idea changes when it becomes a blog post, an email, a script or a social post. Asking AI to write before choosing the format creates unnecessary rewrites.
The Jack Righteous approach
Decide what the content has to do and where it will live before drafting.
Use this workflow
- Choose the destination: blog, email, script, post or another format.
- Estimate how much attention the reader is likely to give you there.
- Decide whether the goal is explanation, action, reflection or response.
- Choose what the reader needs first in that format.
- Set length and structure after those decisions—not before.
Why this matters
AI is very good at producing language that looks finished. That makes it easy to skip the human decision that should have happened first. This step slows the process down just enough to keep the meaning, reader and purpose visible before the writing gets more polished.
A prompt you can actually use
Copy and adapt:
I have an idea but have not chosen the best format. Ask me about the audience, destination, desired action, depth and urgency. Then show me how the structure would differ across the most plausible formats without writing the piece yet.
What a useful AI response should do
A useful response should make the decision easier to inspect. It should surface options, gaps, contradictions or patterns without quietly converting them into a final answer. You should still be able to see where your judgment enters the process.

What the human still decides
AI can help you organize, compare, question and revise. It cannot decide what you truly mean, what deserves emphasis, what is accurate enough to publish, or which version you are willing to stand behind. Keep those decisions with you.
