Lessons Learned from Organic Growth on Suno AI in 2024

2024 was a pivotal year for my journey on Suno AI (visit my profile here). Starting in February, I didn’t pay much attention to my numbers until the summer, and again before the launch of Suno V4. While I had a standout success with “Binary Twilight” reaching over 300k plays, most of my other tracks didn’t gain significant traction. This year taught me a lot about track viability, audience engagement, and building organic growth on Suno AI. Here’s what I learned and how I plan to apply these lessons moving forward.

Key Lessons from 2024

1. Track Viability is a Critical Indicator

"Binary Twilight" showed that a song can perform well in terms of plays and likes without necessarily earning follows. This revealed a key insight: plays and likes indicate interest, but follows indicate loyalty and long-term engagement.

Takeaway: Use engagement metrics on Suno AI to identify whether a track has true potential. Likes and plays are valuable, but comments and follows are stronger indicators of audience connection. For instance, a high number of playlist additions can signify deeper engagement.

2. Commit to Making Tracks Public

Concerns about stolen tracks deter some users from making their work public on Suno AI. However, my strategy evolved to prioritize exposure. By posting promising tracks on SoundCloud or other platforms, I protected my work and prepared for potential copyright claims.

Takeaway: If you’re concerned about copyright, quickly publish tracks on platforms like SoundCloud or YouTube to establish proof of creation. This practice serves as a timestamp and provides evidence of ownership.

3. Organization is Essential for Growth

One of my biggest challenges in 2024 was dealing with over 250 pages of liked songs and generations. Without proper organization, managing this volume became overwhelming. By December, I committed to organizing my work into:

  • By Release: Name of track, version, and style.
  • By Album/Theme: Tracks curated around a central concept.
  • Samples: Cropped sections of songs for reuse.

Takeaway: Regularly review and organize your creations into categories to streamline remastering and future releases. Digital tools can make this process more efficient.

4. Test Viability Through Multiple Versions

Having ADD, I often create multiple versions of the same track. Over time, I’ve learned the importance of stepping back and allowing time to pass before judging which version resonates most. Often, the version I liked least initially performed better with Suno AI users.

Takeaway: Publicly test different versions of a track to identify which one connects best with your audience. Engagement metrics like repeat listens and shares can provide valuable insights.

Using Suno AI as a Viability Testing Platform

Suno AI’s community is filled with AI music enthusiasts, making it an ideal platform to gauge a track’s potential. Here’s why:

  • Audience Alignment: Suno’s users are predisposed to AI-generated music, providing a relevant audience for early feedback.
  • Creator’s Bias: Taking a break from your track and listening with fresh ears can help you evaluate its quality objectively.
  • Engagement Metrics: Tracks that receive positive engagement on Suno AI are more likely to succeed on other platforms.

Actionable Tip: Treat Suno AI as a “fishing” ground. Release tracks and observe which ones generate the most organic bites. This can inform your strategy for distributing the track on broader platforms.

Organic Growth is Like Fishing

Growing an audience organically is similar to fishing: consistency and patience are key. Here are my insights:

  • Test Multiple Platforms: A song that performs well on one platform may not gain traction on another.
  • Cast Wide Nets: Continuously share your music across different platforms. Social media engagement is unpredictable, so maintaining consistent effort is essential.
  • Compete Strategically: Even if you create the next hit song, you’re competing against major labels with vast budgets.

Actionable Tip: Focus on building a genuine connection with your audience. Consistent, authentic engagement will set you apart from industry-backed campaigns.

My 2025 Strategy on Suno AI

  • Organize and Curate: Complete my project to sort liked songs into releases, albums/themes, and samples.
  • Leverage Versions: Experiment with multiple versions of tracks and refine the best-performing ones for broader release.
  • Engage with the Community: Actively participate in Suno AI’s growing user community to build connections and receive feedback.
  • Promote Strategically: Use Suno AI as a testing ground for track viability before publishing to SoundCloud, Spotify, or other platforms.

Hi thanks for taking the time to write this blog. I was wondering if you have had problems with Soundcloud rejecting AI music for distribution, as I have read of a lot of problems with other AI created music.
