Suno Studio 2.0 Arrangement, Effects & Automation Guide
Once the right parts are in your project, the next job is not to add more. It is to make the song move on purpose: decide what plays when, where each track sits, what processing it needs, and which changes should happen over time.

Four different problems creators often confuse

1. ARRANGE: create contrast before you mix
Arrangement is the shape of attention across the song. A chorus usually feels larger because something changes: more layers arrive, the drums open up, a harmony appears, a guitar answers the vocal, or an element disappears just before the downbeat.
Use Studio's multitrack timeline to test those decisions directly. Move, trim, layer, mute and compare clips until each section has a reason to exist. Suno Studio was built around arranging and refining audio on a multitrack timeline, so use that visual structure before reaching for processing.
A simple section test
- Verse: what can be removed so the vocal has room?
- Pre-chorus: what creates expectation?
- Chorus: what new layer or rhythmic change earns the lift?
- Bridge: what changes enough to reset the listener?
- Outro: what should resolve, repeat or disappear?

2. BALANCE: make the static mix work first
Before effects or automation, build a version that works with ordinary volume and panning. Suno's Studio mixing controls let you use track faders, pan, Solo and Mute to decide how the parts sit together.
- Pull every non-essential track down rather than automatically pushing the lead up.
- Center the elements that need a strong anchor, then use panning to create space around them.
- Solo a track to diagnose it, but make final decisions in the full mix.
- Mute layers to test whether the song improves without them.
3. CLEAN: decide whether the source needs its old effects
Studio 1.2 introduced Remove FX, which can generate a drier version of an audio clip. That matters even more in a Studio 2.0 workflow because adding new processing on top of heavy baked-in reverb, delay or other effects can make a track muddy very quickly.
Use Remove FX when the source sound is good but the existing processing limits what you can do next. Do not remove effects simply because the button exists; if the ambience is part of the performance you love, keep it.
4. SHAPE: use effects to solve a defined job
Studio 2.0 expands the production layer with built-in effects such as EQ, compression, reverb, delay and distortion. The point is not to put every effect on every track. Give each processor one job.

Studio 2.0 also introduces reusable custom effects created inside Suno. Treat those like any other processing preset: save a useful starting point, but still judge it in the context of the current song.
5. AUTOMATE: make the mix move only where movement helps
Automation changes a control over time. In Studio 2.0, volume and pan can move across the arrangement rather than remaining fixed for the entire track.
Useful beginner examples:
- Lift a harmony slightly only in the final chorus.
- Pull an instrumental layer down under a lyric, then restore it between phrases.
- Move a transitional texture across the stereo field for a deliberate moment.
- Fade a part into an intro or out of an outro without editing the source clip destructively.
The 15-minute Studio arrangement pass
- Minutes 0–3: play the song without touching anything. Mark where attention drops or sections feel too similar.
- Minutes 3–6: use mute, clip placement and layer changes to create contrast.
- Minutes 6–9: set rough volume and pan with no new effects.
- Minutes 9–12: add only the effects that solve named problems.
- Minutes 12–15: add one or two automation moves, then A/B against the version before automation.
Save or duplicate a version before a major production pass. The goal is to hear whether the work improved the song—not merely whether the session became more complicated.
What Studio 2.0 still does not make unnecessary
More effects and automation make Studio substantially more capable, but they do not automatically replace every DAW workflow. Third-party VST/plugin support is not currently part of Studio 2.0, and there will still be projects where detailed editing, specialized processors, complex routing or final mix/master work is better handled elsewhere.

FAQ
What is the difference between panning and pan automation?
Panning gives a track a fixed left-right position. Pan automation changes that position during the song.
Should I add effects before arranging the song?
Usually no. First make the section structure and basic balance work. Then use effects to solve tone, dynamics or space problems that remain.
When should I use Remove FX?
Use it when you want to preserve the underlying audio but need a drier source for new processing or export. If the existing effect is part of what makes the performance work, keep it.
Can Studio 2.0 use third-party VST plugins?
Current reporting on Studio 2.0 indicates that third-party VST/plugin support is not available. Studio has its own built-in and custom effects system.
